***PayPal system maintenance on 27 July on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie***

26 July, 2012 | 02:00PM BST

Hello,

To ensure that PayPal continues to offer the best possible products and services to our customers, PayPal will be performing system maintenance on 27 July from 7.30 am until 7.40 am. During this time, customers (sellers and buyers) may receive an error message that prevents them from logging into or using their PayPal accounts. Once the maintenance is complete, customers will be able to process their payment.

Thank you for your patience while we do this work to improve the reliability and performance of our services.

Regards,
The eBay Team

***London 2012 – advice for sellers of Olympic-related items***

26 July, 2012 | 10:08AM BST

If you’re selling items associated with the London 2012 Olympic Games, you should be aware that several Olympic-related items are prohibited for sale according to the laws and guidelines.

You aren’t allowed to sell:

  • Olympic tickets
  • Olympic travel passes
  • Official Olympic uniforms and equipment, for example Games Makers uniforms, for the duration of the London 2012 Olympics and the London 2012 Paralympics.

Please also be aware that several terms and trademarks related to the Olympic Games and London 2012 are protected and can only be used in compliance with legal guidance. Further information on the protected brands and guidelines for their use can be found on the Official London 2012-website

Please make sure that your listings comply with   these guidelines. If not, they may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.

***Insertion Fee issues on eBay.ie last weekend***

25 July, 2012 | 09:43AM BST

We are aware that some members experienced a problem on Sunday 22 July 2012 with the zero insertion fee promotion for auction-style listings on eBay.ie. The promotion accidentally ended early at midnight on Sunday 22 July 2012.

If your listing was eligible for the weekend’s zero insertion fee for auction-style listings promotion and it was listed on Sunday 22 July 2012 between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59, you may have been incorrectly charged insertion fees.

If this was the case, these insertion fees will be credited to your account. We’re working hard to complete the credits to all affected accounts this week.

Regards
The eBay.ie team

***Parts compatibility now available in new categories***

12 July, 2012 | 04:13PM BST

Hello,

In 2012, we announced that parts compatibility (sometimes known as ‘fitment’) is now available on eBay.co.uk in most Vehicle Parts & Accessories categories.

From 10 July 2012, parts compatibility is also available in the following categories:

  • Roof Racks (33651)
  • Tow Bars (33653)
  • Nuts (72257)

Parts compatibility allows sellers to show all the cars that are compatible with a part or accessory in a single listing, helping to save time and money and giving buyers an easy way to find the right parts for their vehicle.

When you assign compatible cars to your listing, buyers will be able to find the parts they’re looking for more quickly, knowing that they’re buying a part that fits their model. This should help result in fewer queries and returns.

You can choose compatible cars from a Master Vehicle List (MVL) of more than 16,000 models. Download a copy of the Master Vehicle List and find out how to create and modify your listings.

The eBay Team

- Check the box next to the items you want to leave Feedback for.
- Press the "Feedback" button found at both the top and bottom of the page.
- Choose the Feedback comment you want to use.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

***Original: Techincal issues with Automated feedback***

11 July, 2012 | 05:31PM BST

Due to a technical issue, some eBay customers may be having difficulty with the Automated Feedback facility on the eBay UK site at this time. We have identified the cause and we’re working to resolve this issue. Sellers can still leave feedback manually via the normal feedback process if required. We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience at this time.

***Reminder: new final value fee cap for private sellers on eBay.co.uk***

09 July, 2012 | 02:05PM BST

As previously announced, from 10 July 2012, the maximum final value fee for both auction-style and fixed price format listings will increase from £40 to £75 for private sellers.

This means that while the 10% final value fee was previously capped at a final sale price of £400, it is now £750.

For example, if you sell an item for under £750, your final value fee will be 10% of that sale price. If your item sells for over £750, you’ll be charged a maximum final value fee of £75.

This change only applies to the final value fee charged after an item is sold. You won’t pay a final value fee if your item does not sell. Insertion fees and optional feature fees remain unchanged.

This change does not apply to Motors listings, property or classifieds.

This change is for private sellers only. Fees for business sellers are unchanged.
