***New page design for bidding on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie***

25 May, 2011 | 01:19PM BST

Hi,

There will be a new page design when you bid on auction-style listings from 26 May 2011.

When clicking on ‘Place Bid’ we’ll show a layer window across the view item page. From here you will be able to review, confirm, change, and increase your maximum bid. Bid confirmation and any other related messaging will also be shown in the layer.

This change will allow you to place bids on auctions-style listings without leaving the View Item page.

***Giving greater visibility to your listings on eBay.com.au***

24 May, 2011 | 01:51PM BST

From 24 May 2011, a number of categories on eBay.com.au are now open to a greater proportion of relevant listings from eBay.co.uk and eBay.com

Australian consumers are buying more online yet local ecommerce sellers do not yet offer full product ranges to enable shoppers to find what they are looking for locally.  Hence buyers are turning to overseas websites. Displaying relevant listings from the UK and US will increase the likelihood shoppers will find what they are looking for on eBay.com.au.

These changes will initially be implemented across a variety of categories where:

  1. There are inventory gaps
  2. Australian buyers already have a high rate of purchasing from overseas sellers

For those sellers already offering either worldwide postage or deliver to Australia, you don’t need to do anything further. In addition, to set delivery expectations, Australian buyers will be reminded in the purchase flow that the item they have purchased is located outside of Australia.

If you don’t offer either of these postage options, you may wish to consider making the appropriate changes to enable Australian consumers to find and purchase your items. Alternatively if you do not wish to open your sales to Australia please change your international postage preferences.

Regards,
The eBay team

***Changes to seller-buyer communications ***

17 May, 2011 | 05:17PM BST

In the first Seller News of 2011, we announced changes to make it easier to manage emails sent to buyers and and keep them better informed about their purchases.

During the week of 23 May, eBay will start sending the new order confirmation and order update emails to your buyers. At this point you'll still be able to send (either automatically or manually) Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro emails.

During the week starting 29 May 2011, the new seller to buyer communications homepage goes live and you'll be able to see what emails are being sent to your buyers by eBay and when they are sent. You can also personalise the new order confirmation and update emails from here. Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro emails will no longer be available.

Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro: save a copy of your custom templates

Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro emails including custom templates will be removed the week starting 29 May 2011. Save the content of your templates now so that you don't lose it.

Mark items as dispatched and we'll update your buyer

If you don't already, we recommend you mark items as dispatched and, where relevant, add a tracking number. When you do, we'll notify your buyer that the item is on its way.

Regards,
The eBay Team

***Updated: New fee structure for business sellers effective from 5 May on eBay.co.uk***

13 May, 2011 | 04:12PM BST

Hello,

We'd like to clarify some information that may be useful for you to understand the recent fee changes.

  • Items listed before the fee change (00.00 BST on 5 May 2011) will be charged at the older final value fee rate if that item finishes after the changeover.

  • Good 'till Cancelled listings which renewed before the fee change will continue to be charged at the older final value fee rate until they’re automatically renewed. Sellers can choose to end and relist these items to take advantage of the new fees and still maintain their search position.

  • Sellers with an Anchor Shop will now see a ’promotional rate’ next to their insertion fees for fixed price 30 day listings. This is a necessary to ensure the correct pricing is applied in line with the announced fee changes until a site update takes place in the coming weeks.

Regards,
The eBay Team

***Original: New fee structure for business sellers effective from 5 May on eBay.co.uk***

04 May, 2011 | 01:39PM BST

As announced in March, we’re simplifying the final value fee structure, making our pricing more transparent. We are also lowering insertion fees for Anchor and Basic Shops. This will make selling on eBay easier to manage and fees will decrease overall in many categories, but increase in some.

This new fee structure will come into effect at 00.00 BST on 5 May 2011.

If you’ve previously scheduled listings to end after this date they’ll have the new pricing structure applied.

Regards
The eBay.co.uk team

***Date change: item specific details required in Fashion from 20 July***

04 May, 2011 | 09:54AM BST

As announced in March, item specific details were going to be required in selected Clothing, Shoes and Accessories categories from 16 May. These details help you describe your items more clearly, so buyers find what they want faster and more easily.

We listened to sellers who told us that this didn’t give them enough time to make the necessary updates, so we’ve put the date back. Item specific details will now be required from 20 July 2011.

Start listing and relisting your items using the new item specific details to help get your stock in front of more buyers now.

The eBay Team

***New online interface for eBay customer support***

03 May, 2011 | 11:22AM BST

Hello,

You’ll find it easier to access customer support and help through a new online interface that will be launched this week. We’ve made it easier to navigate, made contact points more accessible, so you will have your questions answered quickly.

A key development is that all customer support contact points will be accessible from 1 screen:

  • If you are looking for an immediate answer, ask your question in the search field, choose from one of the top 5 most frequently asked questions, or chat with Louise

  • Alternatively, click the ‘Contact us’ button to email, chat with, or telephone our customer support team

Enhancements are still being made and tested, so only some of you will see the new screens. To access the new interface, click the ‘Customer support’ link at the top right hand corner of your eBay screen.

We hope you’ll find that it provides you with a much faster resolution to your queries.

Regards,
The eBay Team
