Following feedback from the eBay community, we are pleased to announce that eBay.co.uk will be launching a new category specifically for Local Services. This will be rolled out during the week of 16 July 2007. With this new category, we aim to provide a platform for local service providers and those in need of local services to get in touch with each other easily and quickly.
Information for Service Providers
The new Local Services category will replace various current service-related subcategories (please see the end of this announcement for a full list of subcategories that will be replaced). The new Local Services category will have a category structure to support the different types of services that exist in the marketplace. For details on the new Local Services category structure, please see the July Category Changes Announcement of 19 June 2007.
Listings in the Local Services category will be available in the Classified Ad format only, with a 28-day listing duration.
For eBay members who are currently listing in the affected subcategories listed below, your listings will be moved into the new Local Services category during the week of 16 July 2007. In addition, if you have listed items using the Auction-style and/or Buy It Now Only (Fixed Price) format, those items will remain listed in the same formats when your items are moved to the new Local Services category. However if you wish to relist or create a new listing in the Local Services category, you will need to list your service using the Classified Ad format.
Listing in the Local Services category will be free of charge for the period between 16 July 2007 and 16 October 2007 inclusive (launch price only).
