***US Consumer Product Safety Commission - Several Toys Recalled*** |
 |
 |
 |
28 September, 2007 | 05:23PM BST

On September 26, 2007, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall of several types of toys due to a lead paint hazard. Items in the recall include certain Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway toys, toy gardening rakes, tools and chairs, Knights of the Sword toys, puppet theatres, spinning wheel-metal necklaces and additional children's metal jewellery.
Also, on September 27, 2007, the CPSC also recalled several types of Kolcraft play yards due to strangulation and suffocation hazards.
eBay takes recalled items very seriously, and we work closely with the Consumer Product Safety Commission on these issues. We encourage buyers and sellers to visit http://www.cpsc.gov (See the Recent Recalls section) for more details about the products and model numbers included in this recall. You may also wish to visit our Recalled Items policy at http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/recalled.html
For Sellers: Please check your product model numbers and refrain from listing any items that are part of this recall. Any currently listed items that are included in the recall should be ended.
For Buyers: If you believe an item you are interested in bidding on or purchasing may be part of this recall, we encourage you to use the Ask Seller a Question feature to verify the model number.
We appreciate your understanding and support.
Regards,
The eBay Team

***Original:
Coming soon: New Local Services Category on eBay.co.uk*** |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 04 July, 2007 | 05:58PM BST

Following feedback from the eBay community, we are pleased to announce that eBay.co.uk will be launching a new category specifically for Local Services. This will be rolled out during the week of 16 July 2007. With this new category, we aim to provide a platform for local service providers and those in need of local services to get in touch with each other easily and quickly.
Information for Service Providers
The new Local Services category will replace various current service-related subcategories (please see the end of this announcement for a full list of subcategories that will be replaced). The new Local Services category will have a category structure to support the different types of services that exist in the marketplace. For details on the new Local Services category structure, please see the July Category Changes Announcement of 19 June 2007.
Listings in the Local Services category will be available in the Classified Ad format only, with a 28-day listing duration.
For eBay members who are currently listing in the affected subcategories listed below, your listings will be moved into the new Local Services category during the week of 16 July 2007. In addition, if you have listed items using the Auction-style and/or Buy It Now Only (Fixed Price) format, those items will remain listed in the same formats when your items are moved to the new Local Services category. However if you wish to relist or create a new listing in the Local Services category, you will need to list your service using the Classified Ad format.
Listing in the Local Services category will be free of charge for the period between 16 July 2007 and 16 October 2007 inclusive (launch price only).
Subcategories affected
The following subcategories will be moved from their current location to the new Local Services category during the week of 16 July 2007:
- Photography > Darkroom & Developing > Photographic Services
- Computing > Services > Web Design
- Business, Office & Industrial > Business Services
- Everything Else > Services
Regards,
eBay International A.G.

***Changes to My Messages*** |
 |
 |
 |
19 September, 2007 | 03:01PM BST

We are pleased to announce the changes you will see in the next few days in your My Messages inbox within My eBay.
We've been working to improve the user interface to make it more intuitive and user-friendly. We've updated the left-hand navigation to make the most commonly-used links stand out more, and we've designed a cleaner-looking layout to My Messages overall.
To help you prioritize at a glance, we're making it easier to identify what types of messages are in your inbox. Alerts (important messages about your account from Billing, Trust & Safety, etc.) are now displayed at the top of your inbox in a separate section from other messages.
In the Messages section, messages from eBay will be highlighted in green, while messages from other members, such as questions about an item, will be in black. Additionally, you will able to manage multiple messages at once using Delete, Save to Desktop, Move to, and Mark As actions.
We hope these changes will make My Messages an even better tool for you.
Regards,
The eBay Team

***A single sign-in for Community forums & the rest of eBay*** |
 |
 |
 |
14 September, 2007 | 10:00AM BST

We are pleased to announce that next week we’re making a small change for your convenience. Once you’ve signed into your account anywhere on eBay.co.uk, you’ll be able to use our Community forums (such as our discussion boards, eBay Groups, and Answer Centre) without going through a second sign-in process until you close your browser.
This small change should not only save you time, but should also improve your account security, as you’ll no longer have to remember to sign out of both your main account and the Community area when you leave your computer.
Set your Sign-In Preference in My eBay
Although most members appreciate a single sign-in, there may be some who prefer to sign in to the Community forums separately from the rest of the site. (For instance, if your business has multiple User IDs, and you use a specific ID in the forums.) For this reason, once we've made the change, you can set your preferences in My eBay to indicate you want a separate sign-in for the Community forums area.
The Community forums are a great place to get answers from other experienced members, attend an online workshop, and connect with others who share your interests. Check out our Community forums by visiting the Community tab at the top of almost any eBay page.
Regards,
The eBay.co.uk Team
