***Updated: ***Changes to the display of eBay.co.uk listings on eBay.com******

26 February, 2007 | 05:11PM GMT

We want to tell you about tests affecting the display of eBay.co.uk listings on eBay.com.

For several years, items listed on eBay.co.uk have also appeared in the default search results on eBay.com, our US site. As eBay.co.uk has grown over time, the volume of items listed on eBay.co.uk that appear on eBay.com can make it difficult for US-based buyers to find and buy the items they want.

We are currently testing different options for displaying UK-listed items on eBay.com, with the aim of balancing the needs of buyers with the visibility of items listed on eBay.co.uk. As a result, items listed on eBay.co.uk will no longer be guaranteed to appear within the default search results on eBay.com. This is consistent with the current search settings on eBay.co.uk, which do not show items listed on other eBay sites by default.

Any seller who wishes to ensure that their listings appear in the default search results on eBay.com will need to list those items directly on the eBay.com site. Please note that such listings will not be eligible for any pricing promotions run on eBay.co.uk.

We thank you for your understanding and we appreciate your support in helping to make eBay a great place to buy and sell.

Regards,
The eBay.co.uk & eBay.ie Teams

***New: February Category Changes***

02 February, 2007 | 12:01PM GMT

We are pleased to announce that we are making a number of category changes during the week beginning 12th February.

Within Collectables a number of categories have been expanded and reorganised.

Within the categories listed below in bold font the Item Specifics feature has become firmly established and all sub-categories will be removed.

We will no longer ask sellers to input multiple sub-categories AND repeat the same information in the Item Specifics fields. Sellers will simply choose the main category e.g. Baby Clothing and then Item Specifics, such as Size and Colour.

In addition, buyers will not be presented with both Matching Categories and a series of drop-down boxes (a ‘Finder’). Instead the more complete and flexible ‘Finders’ will be the only refinement choice. Besides making the page clearer, the ‘Finders’ allow buyers to simultaneously search by multiple criteria such as size and colour.

Baby > Pushchairs & Prams > Pushchairs & Prams

Clothes, Shoes & Accessories > Women’s Accessories

Computing > Drives/ Storage > Blank Media

Consumer Electronics > Televisions

Sporting Goods > Cycling > Bikes

Once the changes have taken place you will be able to see the new and changed category IDs on the All Categories Page.

We would like to thank all the members who took the time to contribute the thousands of ideas and suggestions that have helped to shape these changes.

Regards,
The eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie Team
