***Skype on eBay – making communication between buyers and sellers easier***

01 December, 2006 | 04:05PM GMT

In July we introduced the option for sellers to add Skype call and chat buttons to their listings in selected categories. It’s been a great way for buyers and sellers to resolve questions quickly and easily. As a result we are expanding this feature to more categories. You can now add Skype to your listings in the following new categories and sub categories:
  • Crafts
  • Everything Else
  • Health & Beauty
  • Home & Garden
  • Photography

The sub categories of:

  • Consumer Electronics > Televisions
  • Wholesale & Job Lots > Antiques & Art
  • Wholesale & Job Lots > Baby
  • Wholesale & Job Lots > Consumer Electronics
  • Wholesale & Job Lots > Pottery, Porcelain & Glass
  • Wholesale & Job Lots > Sports Memorabilia
A complete list of all eligible categories and sub categories can be found here.

What is Skype?
Skype is a fun little program that lets you make unlimited voice and video calls over the internet to other Skype users anywhere in the world for free. Download Skype now.

How to add Skype to your listings
: Sellers: When you list an item in one of the eligible categories or sub categories you can add either a chat or call button (or both) to your listings by adding your Skype username. In order for the Skype buttons to show in your listing you must ensure that your Skype name and eBay accounts are linked. Do this by going to my eBay > My Account > Preferences > Member-to-Member Communication Preference where you will be able to add your Skype name.
Buyers: Just click on the Skype buttons in the listing, register for Skype (if you haven’t already done so) and then send your message. Remember to introduce yourself as a potential buyer to ensure that the seller knows who you are and will respond immediately.
