***Starting Monday: Make Britain Better with eBay.co.uk***

10 September, 2006 | 09:17PM BST

Hi everyone,

This is Carolyn and I work in the eBay.co.uk marketing team and I want to tell you about an exciting promotion we’re going to be running over the next few weeks that I am sure will be of interest, whether you’re a buyer or a seller.

Here at the eBay office we’re always amazed by the astonishing diversity of stuff for sale on the site: whether it’s a rare album, a crazy collectable or brilliant fashion, it’s all on eBay. We want to remind everyone in Britain that eBay is THE place to buy just about anything you want. So, for 14 days starting from Monday, we’re holding a special promotion to bring eBay to the front of everyone’s mind.

We’re calling it ‘The Best of British’ and every day we’ll have a different theme (‘Better Homes,’ ‘Better Gizmos,’ ‘Better Entertainment’) showcasing handpicked listings from hundreds of sellers to delight all you eBay buyers out there. It all kicks of on Monday but you can have a sneak peek at the special website we’ve built here: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/betterbritain/buyer.html

Not only will we be emailing millions of eBayers and giving them a reason to visit eBay, we’ll be promoting this all over the eBay site and elsewhere on the net (we’ve organised some great advertising with MSN and Yahoo!). We’re also taking to the airwaves with a series of national radio ads featuring comedian Jimmy Carr and harnessing the power of Fleet Street with plenty of press advertising. We’ll be on Virgin and Capital radio among others and in the Metro, Times, Daily Mirror, Independent on Sunday, the Observer and the News of the World to name a few. Keep an eye out.

Our aim to is to ensure that over the course of the next few weeks if you open a newspaper or tune in to the radio, you’ll be in no doubt that eBay.co.uk is the place to come!

We’re really excited about the ‘Best of British’ campaign and I hope that all of you will take a look and join in the fun. I’ll be back in a few weeks with more information on the new advertising campaign we’ll be launching in the run up to Christmas, but in the meantime the very ‘Best of British’ to you all!

Regards,

Carolyn
