***Item Specifics Feature Available for eBay.ie Cars Listings***

29 July, 2005 | 04:37PM BST

We are pleased to announce that Item Specifics is now available on eBay Ireland in the Cars categories.

Item Specifics is an eBay feature that allows sellers to provide additional item details during the selling process. Buyers can then search using these item details, in addition to regular Title search and Description Search, thus finding the items they want with greater speed and ease.

eBay.ie car sellers can distinguish their listings by details such as make and model, options and safety features. This will make it easier for sellers to quickly include much of the information that buyers are seeking when making a purchase. Listings will be more complete and buyers can make a better informed decision.

For more information about Item Specifics, please refer to our FAQs:

Item Specifics will make finding items easier on eBay and help increase sales in the categories where the feature is enabled.

***New: ‘Feedback Sorting By Type’ Now Available ***

13 July, 2005 | 04:46PM BST

Many members of the Community have long asked for a way to only see Feedback of a certain type, such as negative or neutral, when looking at a member’s profile. Some members have said that the ability to filter by different Feedback types will help them make better trading decisions. Others feel that seeing Feedback within context is important and that viewing only negative comments could unfairly obscure all of the positive comments received during the same time.

Many of you will remember that earlier in the year we held a trial for a new feature that allowed members to sort member Feedback by type. You can find out more about the feature and the trial here.

During the 90 day trial we received hundreds of emails, held a Community Workshop and discussed the development with a number of members in person. On top of that we analysed the usage of the feature when it was live on the site to see how the feature affected trading and how members who used it behaved. Based on the input we received and the information we gathered we have decided to reintroduce this feature permanently on the site. The ability to sort feedback is now live on the site and available for use.

We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to give us their views,

Regards,
The eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie Teams

We are very happy to announce that PayPal, eBay’s international payment service, has rolled out its Buyer Protection Programme to eBay Ireland.

What does that mean for me?

As a Buyer, qualifying purchases paid for with PayPal are now protected up to €500. All you need to do is look out for the protection shield to see which listings are covered.

As a Seller, if your listings are eligible, they will automatically offer free purchase protection and increase your chance of generating higher bids.

08 July, 2005 | 02:01PM BST

Royal Mail has released further information on disruption to the postal network as a result of yesterday’s bombings in London. They report that the system is returning to normal and the vast majority of deliveries have occurred today as usual.

You can find out the latest from Royal Mail on their website: www.royalmail.com.

Please continue to show consideration and patience to fellow members who may be unable to process payments and despatches. If you are concerned about a purchase or sale, open the channels of communication with your buyer or seller in the first instance.

***London Bombings – Trading Advice***

07 July, 2005 | 04:17PM BST

Everyone at eBay is saddened by the terrible news of the events in London today.

If you are currently in a trading relationship with a buyer or seller in the London area, be aware that their ability to process despatches or payments may be impaired. Please give your trading partners the benefit of the doubt. If you have any concerns about a purchase or sale, your best first option is to communicate with your buyer or seller before resorting to negative Feedback.

For the next few days at least it is entirely possible that postal services in the Greater London area, and South East of England in general, will be disrupted.

Royal Mail has issued a statement on their website and will be providing updates at www.royalmail.com over the next few days.

We’ll keep you posted with information as and when we know it.

Regards,
The eBay.co.uk Team
