***Enhancements to Buyer Requirements to Help Sellers Minimise Unpaid Items*** |
 |
 |
 |
23 March, 2005 | 09:09AM GMT
 A few months ago, we introduced a feature called Buyer Requirements, which can be used by sellers who want even more control over who bids on their items. We are pleased to announce the latest enhancements to Buyer Requirements.
We've made it possible for sellers to select the number of their items that a particular buyer can bid on in a 10-day period. The seller will also be asked to specify the Feedback level of the buyers on whom they want to impose this item limit.
For example, a seller might choose to limit buyers with a feedback score of less than 5 to be the high bidder on their auction-style listings. Another seller (for example, a car seller) may not want any buyer to purchase more than one item in 10 days regardless of the buyer's feedback.
As with all Buyer Requirements, the seller can remove the block for a buyer by adding the buyer to the seller's buyer block exemption list. Buyer Requirements help prevent irresponsible bidding, but please do be aware that it may limit the number of bidders on your listing.
As a reminder, Buyer Requirements also enable sellers to block buyers who:
don't have a PayPal account (PayPal account holders have an 80% lower unpaid item rate);
are registered in countries to which the seller has designated he/she will not ship;
have a net negative feedback score (for example, -1 or lower);
have received two Unpaid Item strikes in the previous 30 days.
Sellers can set their Buyer Requirements by clicking on Preferences in My eBay and scrolling to the bottom. For further information on Buyer Requirements click here.
Join us for an Unpaid Item Workshop: eBay.com will be hosting an online Community workshop on Wednesday, March 23rd at 10pm GMT to answer your questions about Buyer Requirements and Unpaid Items.
Kind regards

***eBay.co.uk 100K Giveaway*** |
 |
 |
 |
07 March, 2005 | 08:02PM GMT
 What is the eBay 100K Giveaway?
When we ran the Christmas Treasure Hunt, we discovered how much you love competitions. So we reckon it’s time for another one. Over the next few weeks we’ll be giving away £100K worth of prizes to hundreds of buyers and sellers. If you qualify to enter the competition and then answer a question correctly, you could have one of these great prizes coming your way soon. To learn more, go to our promotion page at http://pages.ebay.co.uk/100kgiveaway/.
How do I qualify to enter?
It’s simple. The promotion is split into five promotional periods, and for each period we have chosen special ‘hot categories’. To qualify to enter the competition, you have to have either bought or sold in these categories during the relevant promotional period.
What do I do once I have bought or sold my item?
Once you’ve won or sold your item successfully, go to the competition page and click the red ‘Enter Now’ button. You will then be asked a question, and given four options. Each option has a link going to either a category on the site or a pre-determined search string. Use the listings in the category or search results to answer the question, press submit.
We hope that this will help you explore the hundreds of interesting categories and discover a multitude of treasures that you might never have dreamt are available on eBay.
For example, we might ask you which film an actress has appeared in. The four answer options will link to different categories across the DVD and Video categories. Using the listings in the category, you will be able to work out the answer.
Safety tips
Please remember that eBay will never ask you for any personal details in an email.
Regards,
The eBay.co.uk Team

***New: Want It Now is Available on eBay.co.uk*** |
 |
 |
 |
02 March, 2005 | 11:55AM GMT

In response to a great deal of community feedback and member suggestions we are very excited to announce Want It Now, a new way for members to buy and sell unique, hard-to-find items.
With Want It Now, buyers can now tell sellers exactly what they are looking for when they are unable to find it on the site. Sellers can then browse through these requests to find buyers for their items, as well as get new ideas for what items are in demand.
Buyers: Creating a Want It Now post
When buyers search for an item and receive a low number of results, they will be offered the option of creating a Want It Now post on the Want It Now specialty site. You can also go directly to the Want It Now specialty site from the homepage to create a post. To post to Want It Now, you must have at least 5 feedback or a credit card on file.
Want It Now posts are anonymous, and no identifying information will be displayed.
Sellers: Responding to a Want It Now post
Any member can browse Want It Now posts. If a Want It Now post matches a listing on the site that you know about, you can use the Respond function to alert the buyer. The buyer will receive an anonymous email instructing them how to view the item on the site.
Listing an Item that matches a Want It Now post
Sellers who discover a Want It Now post for an item that they have but haven’t listed will be able to access the Sell Your Item form directly from the Want It Now post. Once the listing is complete, simply click on Respond to send the listing anonymously to the potential buyer (items listed via this method will be available to everyone, exactly like a regular listing on the site).
Want It Now is a great new way to help buyers find what they want and to help sellers find the right buyers.
