Dear Sellers,
As part of our constant effort to improve buyers’ ability to find what they are looking for and sellers’ ability to list in the right categories towards improving their sales, we are pleased to announce that we have made changes to the category structure on eBay.in. Many of these changes are driven by community suggestions, so a big thank you to all those members who wrote in!
Some of the other important changes are:
The category ‘Coins & Stamps’ has been split into ‘Coins & Notes’ and ‘Stamps’ taking into account the inputs we have received from both Community members. Listings of Stamps that are currently live on the Site in ‘Coins & Stamps’ will automatically move into this newly created ‘Stamps’ category. Listings of Stamps that are currently listed in other sub-categories will NOT automatically move into ‘Stamps’. Sellers are requested to move their listings currently live on the Site into this newly created category. Sellers are also requested to list all Stamps hereon in this sub-category. All those using Turbo Lister to list on the Site, please sync your Turbo Lister as explained below. For information on what sub-categories under ‘Coins & Stamps’ have been moved into the newly created category ‘Stamps’, please refer to the link below.
More sub-categories have been added under the category ‘Cars, Bikes & CVs’ to help Sellers list their varied Items under appropriate sub-categories and to help Buyers find what they are looking for better.
‘0-4.9 Mega Pixel Digital Cameras have been combined into the sub-category ‘5-6.9 Mega Pixel’ to create ‘0-6.9 Mega Pixel’ category under Digital Cameras. Further, the ‘7-9.9 Mega Pixel’ sub-category has been split into ‘6-7.9 Mega Pixel’ and ‘8-9.9 Mega Pixel’ sub-categories on the basis of feedback received from eBay community members and also keep in mind trends in the Digital Cameras market. Greater detail has also been added under the ’10.0 Mega Pixel and Above’ sub-category by splitting it into ’10-11.9 Mega Pixel’ and ’12.0 Mega Pixel and Above’ sub-categories.
Extra sub-categories ‘Flash Memory (SD)’ and ‘High Definition’ have been added under ‘Camcorders’ under ‘Cameras & Optics’.
Considering the increasing demand for mini-laptops amongst eBay Buyers, a new sub-category has been created for ‘Mini Laptops’ (less than 12” screen laptops) under the ‘Laptops’ sub-category.
Further detail has been added under the LCD TVs’ sub-category as well. Sellers can now choose from 6 different sub-categories (from 19 inch to 42 inch) while Listing.
On the back of recent launches in the Mobile Handsets segment, new sub-categories have been created under the same.
The category ‘Flights, Hotels & Holidays’ has been renamed to ‘Travel’.
All those using Turbo Lister to list on the Site, please sync your Turbo Lister as explained below.
Sellers are advised to actively make use of these detailed sub-categories while listing as this can only increase the visibility of your listings and thereby the success rate.
To view the present category structure, with category numbers, click on the 'Buy' link at the top of almost every page. Click on the 'See all categories' link towards the bottom of the page. You will reach the Category index page. Select the 'Show category numbers' radio button, and then click 'Show'. You can now view all the categories, with their respective category numbers.

These changes are live on site and visible. We strongly encourage members to pay careful attention to which categories have changed and to update their listings as appropriate.
