***Announcing launch of PaisaPay Seller Protection Program***

31 March, 2008 | 05:15 PM IST

Hello Sellers,

I’m Prashant, Business Head, PaisaPay.

I’m here to announce the launch of PaisaPay Seller Protection Program. PaisaPay Refund System, launched in Dec 2007, is designed to be fair to both buyers and sellers and ensures that no party bears the loss in an unfair manner. Nearly four months into launch we have not heard many complaints from our sellers on the loss incurred by them. However there may have been rare instances where the sellers may have incurred loss due to a Buyer Refund Claim. As mentioned in this post earlier this month and Rajan's interaction with the community in Feb we are happy to launch a program where we would address such rare instances.

While this program is effective today, to ensure that we do not miss on providing relief to our sellers from the transactions which they might feel to have been refunded incorrectly, we will also be covering transactions right from the 10th Dec 2007 i.e. when the new PaisaPay system was launched. For old transactions between 10th Dec 2007 and 31st March 2008 documents should be submitted within the next 10 days.

We believe that with this initiative we will be able to build a even stronger bond between our seller fraternity and PaisaPay. We, at PaisaPay, care for our sellers and hence we would keep taking initiatives to provide the best experience and thereby great service.

I’d request all our sellers to go through the PaisaPay Seller Protection Program. I will also be available for community interaction this Thursday between 4-5 PM to discuss any query related to PaisaPay. You can also post your queries for the session in advance on this thread.

Regards,
Prashant

***Key updates for our Sellers***

20 March, 2008 | 07:58 PM IST

Hello Sellers,

We would like to give you a quick update on the few key points that were discussed during Rajan’s Open House earlier last month.

  1. Express Remittance (ER) – We have revised the ER criteria to include many more sellers and in addition we have also increased the Express Remittance limits for sellers. Please refer my earlier post for more details.

  2. Seller Protection – We are happy to let you know that we will soon be launching “Seller Protection Program” covering all Sellers for PaisaPay Transactions. We will be announce more details about the program on 31st March’2008.

  3. PaisaPay Timelines for Categories / Products Lines which need customization – We agree with your suggestion to increase timelines for such items. We are happy to inform that this feature is already under development and should get delivered by July / Aug 2008. We will update the community as we approach the launch date with more details. This change will address the issue sellers are facing in certain categories on PaisaPay timelines for both Domestic & International Shipments.

  4. Extend Timelines for International Shipments – The current PaisaPay timelines allow a maximum of 31 days for shipment and delivery and can get as high as 62 days in case of acceptance of extension requests. Our data shows a majority of buyers accept time extension requests. Any increase beyond 31 days in international shipping timelines can impact buyers and sellers negatively. Buyers will have to wait longer to receive the product and the many sellers who do not avail of Express Remittance facility will have to wait much longer for remittance of their sale proceeds from PaisaPay. We have spoken with a wide variety of sellers and buyers and in the interest of overall community have decided not to change the International shipping timelines. Parallely as mentioned in point # 3 we are developing a systemic solve to the issue which should address most issues faced by sellers on this front.

  5. VAT – We are taking seller feedback, evaluating options and will update the community on the path we are taking to address VAT concerns by 31st March’2008.

Best Regards,
Sharat Digumarti

***A Message from Rajan Mehra***

12 March, 2008 | 06:07 PM IST

Dear Members,

After many long and happy years at Baazee and eBay, I’ve decided to step down from my role of Country Manager, eBay India. Ambareesh Murty, currently Director - Marketing & Operations, will succeed me as the Country Manager of eBay India.

My association with eBay India has truly been memorable and I will always cherish this challenging yet immensely enjoyable phase of my professional career. The aspect of eBay that is most exciting to me is the impact that the business has on the community at large. I feel proud to have been associated with our passionate community of users and will attempt at keeping in touch with many of you I personally got a chance to meet. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for the great support you provided us through 2007 and wish you lots of success selling on eBay in the years to come.

While at some levels the decision to leave has been difficult, I am comforted in the knowledge that I hand over the mantle at eBay India to Ambareesh, a very capable leader. Ambareesh has been with eBay since 2005 and over the last two years has led key functions like Category Management, Payments, Operations and Marketing. He has always been a close ally and a good friend. Ambareesh is very passionate about eBay and the Community, and I believe that he is the right person to steer eBay India in future.

Over the next few months, I’ll be transitioning the role to Ambareesh and will subsequently be pursuing my entrepreneurial interests. I will definitely also remain connected to eBay and you all as both a buyer and seller :-).

Thanks once again and till we meet again!

Best Regards
Rajan
