 Hi,
I am Sharat Digumarti, Senior Manager in charge of Marketplace Health for eBay India. Under this role, my team is responsible for Enhancing Trust and Safety and Investing in Seller Development on the site
We had met last February where we discussed many topics of interest of both buyers and sellers. I am back to give you some more updates on the Trust and Safety and on Seller Development front. Also, I will be available on June 29th 5-6 PM on this thread for an Open House discussion on the topics.
Trust and Safety Updates:
Enhanced Communication with Buyers in case of dispute – We want to ensure that our buyers who have filed a dispute, do not miss out on Buyer Protection claim. Thus, we have introduced enhanced support for buyers who file a dispute. With the new processes, any buyer filling a dispute will not only be regularly informed on the timelines, but will also be educated on the process to escalate the case for buyer protection claim.
Warranty Policy – In order to bring greater transparency in the warranty being offered in listings and to reduce ambiguity that leads to bad experiences between buyers and sellers, we introduced the Warranty Policy. This will ensure that all buyers are completely aware of the warranty that accompanies the product and thus will make an informed decision. It still early days to see any impact, however I am confident that in the coming week sellers would start abiding to this policy
Reduction in Unpaid Item disputes – I am glad to inform you all that the measures taken to reduce the Un-Paid items have borne good results. We have seen a consistent decline in site wide UPI rate. Some sellers have already reported a decline in their individual UPI rates. I hope all our sellers would have seen the benefit of the same.
Improvement in Seller Non Performance - I am glad to inform that we are doing certain changes in the SNP which would help genuine sellers. I will share more details on this during the open house session.
Seller Retention and Development Program
Business Badshah – The Business Badshah program was initiated to encourage sellers to increase their business. Some sellers have already received the benefit of the program. Most sellers will start seeing the credits in their account by next month. It was great to see an increase in business of many sellers. I hope you are as much proud of your improved performance as are we.
New Seller Support – Based on the feedback we have done some changes to our current program that helps new sellers in building their business on ebay. The changes include the period we proactively reach to new sellers and give guidance across all aspects of successful selling on ebay
Increasing Feedback Adoption - Feedback is the cornerstone of the eBay Marketplace. We believe that feedback adoption by most buyers will greatly benefit genuine sellers. I am glad to inform that the various efforts taken over the past few months like, Detailed Seller Rating, Cricket Mania Promotion etc have greatly helped in increasing the number of buyers who are leaving feedback on site.
As I mentioned earlier, I will be present on the Community Boards for an Open House Session on 29th June 2007, 5 – 6 PM. I will encourage you to post your thoughts, comments and suggestion on this thread. I am looking forward towards this meeting and I hope to gather lot of useful feedback from you.
See you on 29th for Open house discussion!
Regards,
Sharat Digumarti

***Introducing Easier Buying on eBay with Shopping Cart & Immediate Payment Required feature for Sellers*** |
 |
 |
 |
26 June, 2007 | 03:23 PM IST

Hi,
This is Sandeep Gondekar from eBay India’s Product Management Team. My team and I work to ensure that you find eBay India an easy, fast and fun site to use.
As Rajan Mehra had mentioned in his 2007 plans, one of the key priorities for our team has been to make the site simpler and more convenient for our buyers and sellers. Today I am here to update you about some exciting changes that will help us improve your buying and selling experience on eBay.
New Features for Buyers
Introducing Shopping Cart for a complete shopping experience: Here is a cool way that will help you shop till you drop. Just add items to your Shopping Cart and keep shopping. You can then buy your items at one go later! Simple, isn’t it? To use the Shopping cart, follow the simple steps below:
1. Add an item by clicking the Add to Shopping Cart button on the View Item Page
2. Once you have finished your shopping, click the “My Shopping Cart” link on top of any eBay page.
3. Pay via PaisaPay for all the items added from one seller.
Note: The Shopping cart feature shall be available for all ‘Buy it Now’ items offering PaisaPay mode of payment. You can only pay for the items in your Shopping Cart by PaisaPay mode of payment. Click here to view the new Shopping cart page
Fast Checkout for ‘Buy it Now’ Listings: For all our buyers who buy from Buy It Now listings, shopping on eBay will now be an easy 1-2-3 process. All you will need to do is:
1. Click on the Buy it Now button (on the View item page)
2. Provide your payment and shipping details.
3. Commit the order and make the payment
Click here to view the new checkout page
Locate Seller Contact Information easily: You have told us in the past that as a buyer it is not easy for you to locate your seller’s contact information. Going forward, for all the ‘Buy it Now’ and ‘Shopping Cart’ purchases, the order confirmation page, after you commit the order and make the payment, shall give you entire contact details of the seller. The same shall also be emailed to you for your records.
Click here to view the new order confirmation page
New features for Sellers:
Immediate Payment required with PaisaPay: As a seller, if you are offering only PaisaPay payment method on your ‘Buy it Now’ listings, the listing will close only after the buyer has made the payment via PaisaPay. Our seller community has been requesting for this feature for a while now and I am glad to be the one to bring this news to you.
Shipping Validation based on buyer Pin Code: Going forward the shipping charges for a buyer will be calculated based on the seller and buyer pin codes (instead of city). If the buyer and seller pin codes are from same city the buyer will be considered a local buyer and will be charged local shipping charges. Similar logic will apply to national buyers as well. In case the buyer pin code is not available in the database, he shall be considered a national buyer.
I hope you will find the above changes exciting and the changes will make eBay an easy and fun shopping destination for you. I shall keep you updated when the project is closer to being launched on the site. We have also started a Discussion board thread to answer your queries if any. Please feel free to post your questions on this thread, and we shall be monitoring it on regular basis. You can also get in touch with our Customer Service resources to get help you with your questions.
Regards,
Sandeep Gondekar

***Update - MyWorld is now more Fun*** |
 |
 |
 |
12 June, 2007 | 11:02 AM IST
 Hi everyone,
Hopefully by now you've filled out your MyWorld page to let people know about you – if not, go to myworld.ebay.com to get started. Remember - whenever someone clicks on your User ID anywhere on the site, they'll come to your My World page, so let your personality shine!
We have added a bunch of fun new features to MyWorld that we are excited to tell you about:
- New themes to customize your MyWorld page – You'll find we've added a little something for everybody.
- Bubble-gum Pink
- Fun Pumpkin
- Rainbow Violet
- Gentle Terra Firma
- Sporty Green
- Lovely Sky Tone
- The Page of 49 Faces - We think you'll agree that this is unlike anything we’ve done on eBay before! On the MyWorld hub page, you'll see a collage of faces from people who've personalized their MyWorld pages with their picture. You'll be able to search on what they like to do, what they buy, what they sell, and some of their interests. Be careful though, it can be addicting to explore them!
- Related Tags - On the MyWorld hub, you'll also see a set of "tags." These are labels that people are using to describe their hobbies and interests in MyWorld (think: "Music" or "Camera"). By clicking on tags that interest you, you can find other like-minded members.
Click, explore, contribute...and find other eBay members who like what you do! We hope you have as much fun with these new additions to MyWorld as we did creating them. And if you enjoy these new features, remember - this is only the beginning. So, stay tuned for more.
Sincerely,
eBay Team
