***Upcoming Promotions***

27 June, 2006 | 02:44 PM IST

Dear Users,

We continuously strive to identify and highlight the best deals available on our site to our buyers. We keep on receiving a lot of promotion ideas which we try to factor into our merchandising plans. Some of the examples of the kind of promotions we have successfully done in the recent past are “Summer 2006” for Apparel & Accessories and the “Digicams below Rs. 2000/- offers”.

We would like to do many more of these promotions and would like ideas from all our sellers. Do post on the best deals (doesn’t need to have all details) that any of you have by replying on the message posted on the "Selling on eBay India" Discussion Board. We will try to incorporate the best of them into our merchandising plans.

At the same time, we are planning to re-introduce the “Top Picks” block that was extremely popular for low value impulse purchase products (below Rs. 200/-) in Baazee. Just a refresher – in the Top Picks block on Baazee, we used to promote the items which had the most number of sales.

In the proposed Top Picks block, we would like to promote items listed with Home Page feature. The other conditions which we would consider for items to be selected to be promoted in the Top Picks block are:

  1. The product line / listing must already have a very high number of sales
  2. The listing should have zero or very low shipping charges
  3. The listing should have Paisa Pay as one of the payment methods
  4. The item price should be Rs. 199/- or below
  5. The categories which we will be promoting are Apparel & Accessories, Home & Tools, Health & Beauty, Watches, Mobile Accessories and Costume Jewelry. We have selected only these product lines as they have worked the best in the past. However, we will keep on experimenting to include a more broader bouquet of products.

Do reply to the message posted on the "Selling on eBay India" Discussion Board in case you would be interested in participating in any of the above mentioned promotions and we will get in touch with you.

Regards,
D.J. Basumatari,
Category Team

***New Sell Your Item - Limited Test***

27 June, 2006 | 02:44 PM IST

Dear Sellers, I am Bhuvan Bhushan, Manager for Seller Product marketing. Over the past few months, we have been working on the development of a new Sell Your Item (SYI) form. I am happy to announce that we are close to launching this new Sell Your Item form. But because we want to make absolutely sure it goes smoothly, we're going to run a very limited test over the next few weeks. We'll randomly select a very small number of members who use Sell Your Item, and migrate them to the new SYI form. These sellers will see the new SYI by default when they go to list an item.

By using the tool now, those selected will be helping us make sure we're meeting the needs of the Community. And if they don't want to use the new version yet, they'll be able to choose to go back to the current version at any time.

New features in this version of SYI include:

  • A simple listing process - 3 pages and fewer fields to help cut down on the time it takes to create a listing.
  • A “category suggestions” feature – this ensures your item is listed in the best category for maximum exposure to buyers.
  • Dynamic help and personalized tips – these provide guidance and best practices to help you create a better listing.
  • Listing preview section – see what your listing will look like when viewed by potential buyers before you submit your listing.
  • Re-usable listing templates – these make it easier for you to list additional items.

To access the new Sell Your Item: Early Access form, see our information page. You can also get to the page by clicking on Sell at the top of almost every eBay page, and click on the "Start selling with the new version of the Sell Your Item form".

Thanks in advance for your feedback, and for helping us build a better Sell Your Item form!

Sincerely,
Seller Marketing Team

***The New Turbo Lister is Here!***

27 June, 2006 | 11:26 AM IST

Dear Sellers, I am Bhuvan Bhushan, Manager for Seller Product marketing, and I am happy to announce that the new Turbo Lister is here!

During the past year we have worked with you to make improvements to Turbo Lister, a free listing tool that helps make listing items in bulk on eBay faster and easier. We greatly appreciate the time many of you took to try out the early release versions, and send us your feedback.

I encourage you to download the new Turbo Lister and check out its enhanced features:

  • Easier listing process – Now you can create listings within a single page. You can also customize the options you want to see on the page, allowing you to look only at the fields that you use.
  • Enhanced editing capabilities – Now you can edit your items directly in the main inventory list. Change the prices, modify the title, and make other quick changes from the list view without having to open another window.
  • Ability to set Item Specific Buyer Requirements - Using the new Turbo Lister, you can set Buyer Requirements for specific items you are selling.
  • Faster performance – We've also made some technical changes to the new Turbo Lister to make it faster and more reliable.

For more information or to download the new Turbo Lister, visit the Turbo Lister information page. We have also created a new Turbo Lister Upgrade page to help you as you move from the old Turbo Lister to the new.

Thanks,
Bhuvan Bhushan

***Online Safety: Protect Yourself from Fake Second Chance Offers***

05 June, 2006 | 12:45 PM IST

Recently there has been an increase in the number of eBay members receiving “spoof” emails with fraudulent Second Chance Offers – that is, an invitation to buy an item they’d previously bid on, but didn’t win.

To help you keep your account secure and avoid any unsafe transactions, please follow the security guidelines we encourage all eBay members to observe:

  • Check My Messages. If you receive any e-mails with a Second Chance Offer for an item you recently bid on, please check your My Messages inbox on the eBay site to make sure the offer is authentic. If it appears in My Messages with the title "eBay Second Chance Offer for Item …", it’s authentic. If the Second Chance Offer does not appear in My Messages, or appears with a different title, it is not legitimate and should be ignored.
  • Never pay with Western Union or Money Gram. eBay strongly encourages its members to avoid using instant cash wire transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram. It’s against eBay’s Safe Payments Policy for a seller to request payment via these methods as they’ve proven to be unsafe when paying someone the buyer doesn’t know.
  • Forward spoof emails to spoof@ebay.com. If you receive any email that refers to your eBay account and asks you to click on a link, look for the message in your My Messages inbox on the eBay site. If it isn’t there, do not click on the link or enter personal information. Forward the email to spoof@ebay.com. This lets us take quick action on the fake website, and we’ll respond to you within minutes to tell you if the message really came from eBay.
  • Also, download the eBay Toolbar. The eBay Toolbar includes Account Guard which indicates when you are on legitimate eBay sites, and alerts you when you are on a known fraudulent site.

Thank you for taking these simple steps to ensure safe trading on eBay.

    Sincerely,
    Sharat Digumarti,
    Trust and Safety Team
