***Upcoming Changes to Item Pages***

28 March, 2006 | 12:07 PM IST

Hello members,

Over the next few days, we shall be making some changes to the way information is displayed on the 'Item Page' (the page where you find details of a listing). These changes will help our members, especially new members, to more easily find some of the important information on this page.

Here are the details of the changes you'll see in the next few days:

"Meet The Seller” Section - We are renaming the Seller Information area on the item page to "Meet The Seller." Most of the information will remain the same, except for a few visual changes to make it easier to read.

New "Buy Safely" area - Directly below Meet The Seller will be a Buy Safely section. Buyers expect to find trust-related information in one place, so here we'll list the seller's feedback information, any applicable protection programs, and the seller's return policy, if specified.

Shipping Information Higher on the Page - To make it easier to quickly determine the total cost of the item, we're moving the shipping information up on the page, closer to the current item price.

Relocated Links - The Watch This Item and Email to a Friend links will be moved into the center of the "blue" section. They’ll still work exactly as they do today – they are just in a different location.

Show/Hide Additional Listing Details - Additional listing details, such as the Starting Time and Duration, have been moved underneath the Watch This Item and Email to a Friend links. These will be hidden by default, but you can easily choose to display them if you wish. Plus, your choice will be "sticky," meaning that these will display (or stay hidden) as you move from item to item.

View the Changes in Advance
To become familiar with the new page layout, we encourage you to check out this screenshot so you can see exactly how it will look.

***Reminder - Fee Changes in Effect from April 2006***

24 March, 2006 | 02:41 PM IST

Dear Sellers,

Our earlier announcement on the fee revision has received a lot of response from our members. We appreciate the feedback from you and look forward to your continued support in building a vibrant marketplace.

We expect that the fee revisions will actually lead to many members increasing their usage of certain features on the site and thus improving upon their conversion rates. While there might be a marginal increase in cost for some members, we feel that this is required in order to build a popular & thriving marketplace.

In view of the above, we would like to remind & confirm on:

2006 Fee Changes Applicable from 1st April 2006

At the outset there are no changes in Final Value Fees, Seller Tools Subscription Fees (apart from the Sales Report change as mentioned earlier) and eBay Shops subscription fees.

Feature Plus will be charged at Rs. 60 per listing. This will mean a reduction of 20 % from the earlier pricing of Rs. 75 per listing. This is a very effective & popular feature with a success rate of 20 times higher than a regular listing. Formats Included - Auction, Fixed Price & Ad Format. Store Inventory Format is excluded.

Gallery Feature will be reduced by 33 % & will be charged Rs. 50 per listing as compared to Rs. 75 per listing. It is an effective & heavily promoted feature whose returns are 15 times better than a regular listing. Formats Included - Auction, Fixed Price & Ad Format. Store Inventory Format is excluded.

Highlight will be charged 25 % less at Rs. 15 per listing from current fee of Rs. 20 per listing. Formats Included - Auction, Fixed Price & Ad Format. Store Inventory Format is excluded.

Gallery - This feature, which displays a thumbnail image of your product next to the listing, will be charged at 25 paise per listing from no fees currently. Formats Included - Auction, Fixed Price & Ad Format. Store Inventory Format is excluded.

Listing Designer - This feature, which enhances the visual appeal & provides the right ambience to your listing, will be charged at 20 paise per listing from no Fees currently. Formats Included - Auction, Fixed Price & Ad Format. Store Inventory Format is excluded.

All other Feature Fees for regular & store formats remain unchanged.

***eBay Shop Enhancement - Create upto 300 Custom Categories***

16 March, 2006 | 07:35 PM IST

Dear Sellers,

I am Bhuvan Bhushan, Manager for Seller Product marketing, and I will like to share with you an interesting development on eBay shops.

You can now create up to 300 custom categories in your eBay Shop.

As an eBay shop owner, you can now define and create categories the way you would like them to be within your shop. Currently, you can create only 19 custom categories in your shop to the extent of one level.

Starting last week of March, you will be able to create up to 300 categories at all top-level categories or two or three levels of categories. E.g. Apparel & Accessories – Men’s Accessories – Leather Belts. This category expansion will allow you to create an extensive category structure that is customized for the items you sell and for the buyers to browse for your products.

We're excited about this new feature, and we hope you are too. We will keep you updated with more details as we launch the feature end March.

Thanks,
Bhuvan
eBay Seller Product Marketing Team
