As announced in July as part of the fall Seller Update, several listing features will be discontinued starting tomorrow, October 1.

The listing features that will no longer be available include: Gift Services, Border, Highlight, Featured Plus, Home Page Featured and Pro Pack.

Featured First will be available to eBay Top-rated sellers only.

If you have an active listing with one of these features at the time they are discontinued, the feature will be removed from your listing automatically. You’ll receive a full credit for the price you paid for that feature on the next billing invoice after your listing ends.

Also, the new requirement for Auctions with Buy It Now will become effective tomorrow—the Buy It Now price you set must be at least 10% more than your auction start price.

I’m happy to announce the upcoming beta launch of a new payment option designed to make it better than ever to buy on eBay—Bill Me Later.

With Bill Me Later, qualified buyers with a PayPal account in good standing will be able to purchase items fast and pay later—without using a credit card.

Sellers will be paid in the same way they are paid by PayPal today—the full amount due to the seller from the transaction will be transferred to their PayPal account just as quickly as with any other transaction.

Bill Me Later will launch initially in the coming weeks with a small group of buyers and sellers. Sellers included in the launch will be notified separately by email from PayPal. Buyers included in the launch will see Bill Me Later as a payment option in eBay checkout on items from these sellers. Buyers may also get special introductory offers such as $25 off and no payments for 90 days. The offers will be funded by Bill Me Later and credited directly to the buyer’s Bill Me Later account.

We’re very excited about bringing this new payment option to eBay and look forward to expanding it to more buyers and sellers in the coming months.

Although we realize several members have shared some great content on our blogging platform since its creation in 2006, overall usage and page views have not reached high enough levels to justify ongoing operational and maintenance expenses. Closing down eBay Blogs will allow us to focus more of our resources on our core marketplace.

In July we announced that as of October 1 we are retiring certain listing features and making modifications to others in order to emphasize the most relevant results in eBay search.

Before we roll a significant upgrade to our search engine on October 1, we need to test its performance with live buyer traffic. To get the most accurate readings, Featured First, Featured Plus, Highlight, Border, and Gift Icon are being turned off as part of this final testing phase. This test will impact no more than 20% of the buyer traffic who otherwise would have seen search results that displayed these features. The test will conclude around September 19.

Sellers who’ve purchased these features for listings that are live during this test will receive credit for 20% of the feature fees paid that is prorated for the number of days these listings overlap with the test. If you purchased Gift Icon, Border, Highlight, Featured Plus, or Featured First on a listing that overlaps with the test you can expect to see this credit on your October invoice.
