Hi everyone - I'm back with a number of important shipping updates.
New! Free Shipping for Calculated Listings
Now sellers can offer Free Shipping when using calculated shipping. (Previously, Free Shipping could only be offered with flat rate shipping.) In the Sell Your Item form - and coming soon in Turbo Lister - you can check the "Free Shipping" checkbox next to the shipping service you'd like to offer free to your buyers. You can still use calculated shipping for up to two other shipping services if you wish.
Remember, listings with Free Shipping will receive the new eye-catching Free Shipping icon that appears on the view item page. (See our previous post for more info.)
New! Added flexibility when shipping with Freight
We also just introduced the ability for sellers to specify they are shipping with Freight (a special shipping service for extra-large items), even if they're not using the Freight Calculator. Specifying that you're using Freight will help set proper expectations for your buyers and lead to higher buyer satisfaction. For sellers who want the convenience of real-time zip code-based quotes, the FreightQuote calculator can be included in listings.
Coming in July: Specified Shipping required
Starting in July, sellers will be required to specify domestic shipping services and costs. (This was first announced in March).
Buyer satisfaction and DSR scores are higher when sellers specify their shipping costs/services. For this reason, items without specified shipping receive less exposure in Best Match. We encourage the minority of sellers who don't already specify shipping in the shipping details section of their listing to do so as soon as possible.
For more for tips on how to keep your buyers happy and your Shipping DSRs healthy, check out this page.
Coming Soon: More flexibility to edit shipping for live multi-quantity items
We're working to give sellers more flexibility to edit their shipping details in live listings. Currently, once someone buys an item from a multi-quantity Store Inventory or Fixed Price listing, the shipping details are no longer editable. Soon, sellers will be able to edit these shipping details, even after a purchase has been made, without having to cancel and relist the item. We'll provide full details when this functionality launches in the next few weeks.
Reminder: USPS Price and Fee Change, Monday May 12
Finally, as a reminder, USPS is changing their prices starting Monday, May 12.
For listings that use the eBay Shipping Calculator, prices will automatically be updated starting around midnight tonight, since these items are likely to be shipped on or after Monday. The new prices will be available in Label Printing starting Sunday evening, May 11, including new discounts for Priority Mail and Express Mail. For more details see the prior post, or visit the USPS site here.
Sincerely,
Kristina Klausen
