The winners of our 6th annual eBay Canada Entrepreneur of the Year awards have been announced.

Virendra Rajawat (eBay ID: sonatona) of Toronto has been crowned eBay Canadaís 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2004 Virendra immigrated to Toronto from India where he worked for a medical diagnostics company. After an unsuccessful job search, Virendra turned to eBay to earn an income and turned his first passion into a new profession. Today he makes more than $185,000 a year selling jewelry and gemstones to customers around the world.

Antoine Viel (eBay ID: directmusiconline) of Quebec has been named eBay Canadaís 2010 Innovator of the Year. Working for a 100-year old music store in Quebec City, Antoine thought he could attract additional customers online. He convinced the store owner to sell items on eBay and the move paid off - to-date Antoine has sold more than $500,000 worth of musical instruments on eBay. Antoine develops YouTube videos of the instruments he sells so international customers (80 per cent live outside of Canada) can hear the tonal quality of the instruments. He also regularly communicates special offers and sales to potential buyers on Facebook.

Sheri Walker of Nova Scotia (eBay ID: beansantiques) has been named eBay Canadaís 2010 Family Business of the Year. Sheri proves that itís easy to grow a small business without leaving your hometown. As the owner of a local antique and collectables shop, Sheri didnít think much of using the Internet to expand her business until a rare Churchill button, listed for $5 in her shop, sold for nearly $400 on eBay. That was nine years ago, and today, Sheri earns about $100,000 on eBay and about 60 per cent of her customers live outside of Canada. The entire family is involved in the business including three-year-old son Ethan who places the labels on the packages.

Along with the bragging rights, these top three Canadian entrepreneurs get a boost for their business with a cash prize and money towards a business course. Congratulations to Virendra, Antoine and Sheri.

The Entrepreneur of the Year awards program recognizes eBay sellers across Canada who run successful online businesses. Will you be next yearís Entrepreneur of the Year?
