***NEW FEES AND OTHER SPRING UPDATES LAUNCHING NOW***

30 March, 2010 | 10:29

Important news for sellers: The spring seller updates originally announced on January 26, are now live:

New eBay fee options in effect today:

New Store subscription rates: Starting today, sellers with an eBay Store subscription are getting the new fees associated with their subscription:
  • Fixed Price Insertion Fees as low as 3¢ with full search exposure
  • New low rates for Auction-style listings
  • Free pictures
If you list 50 items or more per month, the new Store subscription packages most likely give you the lowest overall fees.

New standard fees: Starting today, all other sellers are getting the new standard fees:
  • No Insertion Fees for Auction-style listings with a start price under $1 (up to 100 listings per month)-pay only if your item sells
  • New low Insertion Fees with start prices of $1 or more
  • One easy 9% Auction-style Final Value Fee
  • 50¢ Fixed Price Insertion Fees, with Fixed Price Final Value fees similar to what they have been until today.
Standard fees are ideal if you sell occasionally.

Get a complete overview of the new standard fees and new Store subscription fees in effect today. If you have any questions, see the handy Fee Illustrator to determine the best fee option based on the way you sell.

Store Inventory format listings now regular Fixed Price listings with full search exposure

Starting today there's just one Fixed Price selling format on eBay with all listings getting full exposure in eBay search results. As of today, all of your Store Inventory listings are now regular Fixed Price listings with their original duration and are being charged the new Fixed Price Insertion Fees associated with your current Store subscription (or the standard 50¢ Insertion Fee if you no longer have a Store subscription).

REMINDER: New seller requirements in effect in mid-April

Starting in mid-April, the changes to the PowerSeller requirements, discount schedule and changes to the minimum performance requirement for all eBay sellers will take effect.

Other updates launching now or over the next several weeks:
  • New parts compatibility listings are now available in some categories in Motors Parts & Accessories on eBay.com
  • Adding watermarks to your photos is now available
  • Category and Item Specifics changes announced for March are now live.
  • Sincerely,

    eBay Canada

    Hello everyone,

We wanted to share some exciting news with you: eBay Canada recently received a LOULOU Shopping Award!

Based on the results of an online survey conducted by LOULOU Magazine, the awards were handed out to winners in nine categories and eBay.ca was awarded a Golden Bag for being one of LOULOU readers' favourite online shopping destinations. With over 7-million items in the Clothing, Shoes, and Accessories category alone, we're not surprised!

Thank you to all our buyers and sellers who make eBay.ca such a great place to shop.

***Best Match Tests on eBay Canada Search Results Pages***

    10 March, 2010 | 12:18

    Russ Patterson
    Hello everyone,

Starting this week, we'll be testing some changes with the Best Match sort order on eBay.ca. We're taking some recent and successful Best Match changes from eBay.com, and applying them to the eBay.ca site in an effort to increase buyer activity.

Best Match searches on eBay.ca have long given higher priority to items located in Canada because we believe doing so is beneficial for Canadian buyers. Note that one of our test variants this month will specifically exclude this special located-in-Canada “boost” factor. This is solely so that we can better understand and measure the positive impact that the item location “boost” has on Canadian buyer behaviour.

Testing will continue through to the end of March.

    Sincerely,

    Russ Patterson
    eBay Canada

***Reminder: Spring Price Change Coming March 30 — Make Sure You’re Ready To Get The Lowest Fees***

    02 March, 2010 | 10:17

    Dinesh Lathi

Reminder: The price change we announced in January is going into effect on March 30. Whether you're running a business or selling to earn extra cash, starting March 30 the upfront cost of selling on eBay will be dramatically reduced.

Make sure you're ready on March 30 to get the lowest fees. If you haven't done so already, take the time now to understand the options and choose the one that work best for you:

Use the handy Fee Illustrator to determine which option is most cost-effective for you. Just plug in some key information about your sales and see what your fees would be with the different options.

Meanwhile, list in Fixed Price today for 10¢

You don't have to wait until March 30 to start saving. Take advantage of our special offer just for Store subscribers and list in Fixed Price with full search exposure now for 10¢. Plus you can subscribe to a Store or upgrade your current subscription now and pay no extra monthly fee until April.

    Current Stores sellers

    • Remember, starting March 30, Store Inventory Format listings will automatically become regular Fixed Price listings with the original duration and renew at the rates included with your subscription package. The current 10¢ Fixed Price listing promotion is a great opportunity to start moving your Store inventory to regular Fixed Price listings with full search exposure now.
    • The eBay Stores User Agreement has been updated to reflect the new requirements around subscriptions, cancellations and downgrades announced as part of the fee changes. The updated eBay Stores User Agreement will take effect on March 30. The continued use of your Stores subscriptions will indicate your assent to the updated eBay Stores User Agreement.

Get details on all the updates announced in January and coming this spring. Also, you're invited to join me and other leaders from eBay in a Town Hall meeting on March 31st, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Eastern time). Check the Announcement Board on eBay.com for more details coming soon.
