Effective today, pay no Insertion Fees on your first 5 qualifying Auction-style listings when you use the eBay Sell Your Item. This is not a short-term promotion—it’s a change to eBay pricing. You can now list 5 items every 30 days and pay nothing unless your items sell.
The Final Value Fee for these first 5 listings with $0.00 Insertion Fees will be 8.75% of the sales price or $20, whichever is lower.
See the original May 12 announcement below for all options available for sellers.
Start selling!

Hi everyone,
I’ve got some exciting news about $0.00 Insertion Fees. Starting June 16, 2009, you’ll get 5 free Insertion Fees every 30 days for Auction-style listings.
Here’s how it works: Regardless of your start price, your first 5 Auction-style listings will have NO Insertion Fees when you list with eBay’s Sell Your Item form.
The Final Value Fee for these 5 listings with $0.00 Insertion Fees will be 8.75% of the sales price or $20, whichever is lower. Any additional items sold during the same 30-day period will have the same Insertion Fees and Final Value Fees as they do today. Learn more.
Choose the option that works best for you, based on how you list:
- eBay’s Sell Your Item form– If you’re currently using this form, you can either take advantage of the 5 free Insertion Fees every 30 days, or opt out by listing your items via an eBay tool or third-party listing solution.
- eBay tool or third-party listing solution – If you’re currently using one of these tools, you can either take advantage of this new pricing structure by listing your first 5 Auction-style listings every 30 days through eBay’s Sell Your Item form, or continue with your current practices at the current pricing.
We’re continuing our efforts to lower the upfront costs of selling on eBay. The 5 listings with $0.00 Insertion Fees are especially helpful if you don’t sell a high volume, but offer the kind of unique and hard-to-find inventory buyers expect to find on eBay.
Sincerely,
Dinesh Lathi

***Important Reminders for Sellers and Buyers*** |
 |
 |
 |
12 June, 2009 | 10:00

| Ira Grossman |
Hello everyone, I’m back with some important reminders.
Cheques and money orders no longer allowed in most categories
As we shared with you in April, next week we will be rolling out a new Accepted Payments Policy on eBay.ca. Starting June 15, 2009, you will need to remove cheques and/or money orders as methods of payment on your items, and remove references to these payment methods from your item descriptions. If you don’t, your items could be blocked and/or removed from the site. Find out more here.
Improved Buyer and Seller Protection
In the coming weeks, we will begin offering improved PayPal protection for buyers and sellers.
For Canadian buyers, PayPal Buyer Protection will cover the full purchase price and original shipping costs with no coverage limit for items purchased with PayPal. Buyers will receive greater protection against claims relating to items not received and significantly not as described. See eligibility. All PayPal customers also continue to be 100% protected against unauthorized payments sent from their PayPal accounts.
For Canadian sellers, PayPal will protect all Canadian sellers on eligible transactions with buyers from the 190 markets where PayPal is accepted -- with no annual coverage limit and for no additional cost. Sellers can ship to any address listed on the transaction details page -- confirmed or unconfirmed -- for items sold on eBay. Sellers are now even more protected against unauthorized use and item not received claims, chargebacks and reversals. See eligibility.
Sincerely,
Ira Grossman

***Turbo Lister: New Sign-in Process*** |
 |
 |
 |
10 June, 2009 | 14:25

| Gui Bastos |
Hi everyone...This is Gui Bastos with eBay's Seller Tools team. By now you've hopefully read John Canfield's recent announcement about how we're keeping the site safe through our Trusted Selling with Identity Confirmation initiative. With the latest Turbo Lister Update, we're bringing a similar measure of safety to Turbo Lister, called "authentication and authorization." Simply put, it provides more effective security against unauthorized use of your Turbo Lister account.
How authentication and authorization works
The first time you connect to the eBay site with Turbo Lister 6.5 or higher, you'll be asked to sign in and verify your User ID and password (authentication). In the next step (authorization), you'll get the appropriate privileges to perform your Turbo Lister activities. During this process, we'll give your computer an encrypted security code that only eBay can read, which will be valid for 18 months.
You won't have to go through this process again for 18 months, unless you add a new user to your Turbo Lister subscription, or you uninstall and reinstall Turbo Lister on your computer. This update is optional, as always, but in the interest of making the overall eBay marketplace safer, this process will become mandatory later this year (we'll keep you posted).
For more information about authentication and authorization, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
Sincerely,
Gui Bastos
Seller Tools team
