Hi everyone – this is Brian Burke with eBay's Policy team. Effective January 1, 2009 we will no longer permit the sale of ivory on the site with two exceptions:
- Pianos with ivory keys will be permitted
- Wood furniture with ivory inlays will be permitted as long as the item was created before 1900.
In October, eBay Ink (www.ebayinkblog.com) covered the background and rationale around this decision, which I encourage you to read. For more details, please see the Animals & Wildlife policy.
Sincerely,
Brian Burke
