Hi everyone...I’m Andrew Sloss, Interim Country Manager. By now, most of you have heard about Best Match, the new sort feature that gives buyers another way to organize their search results, helping them more quickly find what they are looking for.
In the coming weeks, we will begin testing Best Match on eBay.ca in selected categories in both English and French.
To date, tests have been conducted on several eBay sites including the US, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. One of the good things about Best Match is that each country can customize its formula to best suit the individual needs of their local market. That’s exactly what we intend to do in Canada – create a stellar default search that increases business on both the buying and selling sides of the Canadian business.
The tests will begin in the following seven categories:
- Clothing, Shoes, Accessories
- Toys & Hobbies
- Video Games
- Sports Memorabilia
- Collectables
- Sporting Goods
- Computers & Networking
During the test, Best Match will be the default sort for search and browse in these categories if your search returns more than 25 items. Searches with 25 or fewer items will be sorted as Time: Ending Soonest.
If you prefer to use a different sort order in these categories (such as "Time: Ending Soonest"), you can change it by using the Sort By drop-down menu at the top of the search results. If you've already set your sort order preference using the "Customize Display" link (found to the right of the “Sort By” drop-down), you won't be affected by this test.
Throughout the test, we want to hear your thoughts on how Best Match is – or is not – working for you. Your input will play a valuable role in helping us make Best Match the best possible search experience for buyers on our site.
