***Now Available - Repeat Feedback Credit for Buyers and Sellers *** |
 |
 |
 |
29 February, 2008 | 09:21

| Brian Burke |
Hello...this is Brian Burke, Director of Feedback Policy at eBay. As the Community knows, several changes were announced in January as part of Evolving Feedback. Our first change gives sellers and buyers the opportunity to earn up to one Feedback point per week (Monday through Sunday, Eastern time) from the same trading partner.
We've begun providing credit for repeat Feedback for transactions ending on or after Tuesday, February 19th. We've also made some cosmetic changes to the Feedback Profile page to reflect this change. What's more – coming in May, we will provide credit for ALL repeat transactions that occurred between 1996 and February 2008. (We'll be introducing the other Feedback changes announced in January in that timeframe, as well.)
With this change, now sellers will get the credit they deserve when their great service and selection results in repeat buyers -- they can also reward loyal buyers with repeat Feedback, as well.
Sincerely,
Brian Burke
Director, Global Feedback Policy

***Testing Best Match on eBay.ca*** |
 |
 |
 |
26 February, 2008 | 10:15

| Andrew Sloss |
Hi everyone...I’m Andrew Sloss, Interim Country Manager. By now, most of you have heard about Best Match, the new sort feature that gives buyers another way to organize their search results, helping them more quickly find what they are looking for.
In the coming weeks, we will begin testing Best Match on eBay.ca in selected categories in both English and French.
To date, tests have been conducted on several eBay sites including the US, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. One of the good things about Best Match is that each country can customize its formula to best suit the individual needs of their local market. That’s exactly what we intend to do in Canada – create a stellar default search that increases business on both the buying and selling sides of the Canadian business.
The tests will begin in the following seven categories:
- Clothing, Shoes, Accessories
- Toys & Hobbies
- Video Games
- Sports Memorabilia
- Collectables
- Sporting Goods
- Computers & Networking
During the test, Best Match will be the default sort for search and browse in these categories if your search returns more than 25 items. Searches with 25 or fewer items will be sorted as Time: Ending Soonest.
If you prefer to use a different sort order in these categories (such as "Time: Ending Soonest"), you can change it by using the Sort By drop-down menu at the top of the search results. If you've already set your sort order preference using the "Customize Display" link (found to the right of the “Sort By” drop-down), you won't be affected by this test.
Throughout the test, we want to hear your thoughts on how Best Match is – or is not – working for you. Your input will play a valuable role in helping us make Best Match the best possible search experience for buyers on our site.
Please send your comments to bestmatch@ebay.ca. We appreciate the participation of the Community in this test, and look forward to sharing the results with you.
Sincerely,
Andrew Sloss
Interim Country Manager

***A Message from Lorrie Norrington – New Media Category Pricing Effective February 20*** |
 |
 |
 |
11 February, 2008 | 13:29

| Lorrie Norrington |
Hello … This is Lorrie Norrington, President of eBay Global Marketplace Operations. By now I hope you’ve had the chance to watch the Keynote and Executive Q&A webcasts from our annual eCommerce Forum recently held in Washington D.C. I can’t think of a better way to start my new role than spending two and a half days in discussions with many eBay sellers. I want you to know I’m committed to consistent communication, action and follow through. As a result, I’d like to let you know about our next steps:
1. Make immediate changes where we believe it benefits the health of our Marketplace: We heard your comments about the need for media and category-specific pricing. Today, I am pleased to announce we are accelerating our plan to phase-in category-specific pricing for media. This fee cut will coincide with the site-wide pricing changes previously announced to take effect on February 20, 2008. In the Books, Music, Movies and Video Game software categories, we will be offering even lower insertion fees on Auction-style and Fixed Price listings for the first three insertion tiers as follows:
Starting or Reserve Price: $0.01 – 0.99
Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ 0.20
New Media fee: $ 0.10
Starting or Reserve Price: $1.00 - 9.99
Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ 0.40
New Media fee: $ 0.25
Starting or Reserve Price: $10.00 – 24.99
Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ 0.60
New Media fee: $ 0.35
2. Closely monitor the Marketplace to ensure the changes we’ve made have the intended impact: We’ve heard from many of our sellers who believe the shipping Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) needs to be re-examined. We also heard you when you said you wanted us to be transparent about participation in the PowerSeller discount program. Let me be clear - our goal is to improve the buyer experience so that at least 50 percent of our PowerSellers qualify for discounts. We will move forward with the changes announced in Washington D.C., but will closely monitor the data. Within the next six months, if buyer trust in the marketplace does not improve as intended, we will take action.
3. Stick with the changes we believe are right for the Marketplace: We will proceed with our announced plans to evolve our feedback system and weight Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs) in search. They are both central to our plans and will aid in providing a great buying experience from sellers they can trust.
Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to share with you how excited and honoured I am to be serving the eBay Community. You have helped us build an incredible Marketplace over the years. I passionately believe that great service will lead to great customer experiences in 2008 and I’m very committed to helping the eBay Marketplace become even more successful for you in today’s competitive environment.
We literally cannot do this without you and the changes we announced better align our shared interests. By rewarding and differentiating our best partners, together we will deliver more of the great shopping experiences found nowhere else but on eBay.
Sincerely,
Lorrie Norrington
President, eBay Global Marketplace Operations
