***Coming Soon – Improvements to Seller Invoices*** |
 |
 |
 |
29 May, 2007 | 18:20

| Jeanette Longstreet |
Hi…I'm Jeanette Longstreet, and I lead the Billing product team at eBay. My team is in charge of making our seller invoices as safe and easy-to-use as possible. I'm here to let you know about two improvements we're making to these invoices.
Additional security for invoice emails
The next invoice email you receive will contain only a text summary of your invoice information, including the amount due and your payment method on file. To see your full invoice details, you'll need to log in to your eBay account.
Teaching sellers to log into their accounts from a safe URL (Web address) is an important step in helping members stay safe from malicious links and buttons in spoof emails.
Enhanced reporting
Now you'll have more flexibility when analyzing your invoices. You'll be able to download your invoice into an easy to view, non-editable, HTML file. You can also download your invoice transaction level details in to a CSV file, enabling you to easily sort and analyze your invoiced transactions using any application that supports the CSV format, such as Microsoft Excel. We're also adding additional reports, such as new subtotals by fee or item, to help you track the fees you’ve paid.
To check your invoice, go to "My Seller Account" within My eBay and select "View Invoice."
Sincerely,
Jeanette Longstreet,
eBay Billing Team

***Win a $25 eBay Gift Certificate or a Trip to eBay Live! with 'Pack Your Bags and Win It'*** |
 |
 |
 |
24 May, 2007 | 10:33

| Steve Corral |
Hi everyone…this is Steve Corral with eBay’s Marketing team. eBay Live! 2007 is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a promotion?
Since everyone seemed to have so much fun with the “Pack Your Bags and Win” promotion last year, we’ve decided to do it again. Winners get a $25 eBay gift certificate, or a trip to Boston, MA, including two free passes to eBay Live! 2007.
Here’s how our "Pack Your Bags and Win It! Sweepstakes" works:
Every time you win an Auction-style listing or use Buy It Now between May 24th and May 30th, you'll be entered into that day’s prize drawing for a chance to win one of 50 $25 eBay gift certificates, or the Grand Prize: a 5-day / 4-night trip to Boston, MA from June 13-17, 2007 to attend eBay Live! 2007. We'll have a total of 7 Grand Prize Winners (1 each day) and 350 eBay gift certificate winners (50 each day)!
Guess what they packed, and increase your chances of winning
But wait -- there's more! Each day we'll feature an eBay staff member or personality you're likely to know (like Jim “Griff” Griffith, Dean of eBay Education) on our promotion page. Follow the "Pick What They Packed" link and use the drop-down menus to guess which five items they packed in their suitcases for Boston. Check the Pack Your Bags discussion board for daily “Hai-Clues” that will help you “Pick What They Packed”.
If you can correctly guess the exact five items the designated person packed that day, you'll get one more entry into the daily prize drawing for a chance to win the Grand Prize 5-day/4-night Boston MA trip, which includes hotel accommodation, air transportation, $250 dining allowance, ground transportation between your hotel and Boston airport, and two (2) tickets to the eBay Live! Closing Gala! You can see our official rules here (link).
Pack Your Bags and Win It Sweepstakes starts May 24th, so get ready to shop, play, and win!
Sincerely,
Steve Corral

Hi…It’s Isabel Tremblay from eBay Canada's Community team with an exciting announcement from PayPal.
PayPal.com users are now able to complete most transactions on PayPal in French, Spanish and Simplified Chinese, in addition to English. Users will experience the same security, ease of use and features that they’ve come to expect from PayPal, but they will be able to transact in the language that is most comfortable to them.
A few things to point out:
- Users will still be using the standard PayPal.com site – only the content has been translated to better serve users’ needs.
- If you use eBay.ca in French, you should be automatically directed to French pages on PayPal.com
- You can instantly switch between languages by using the language menu in the upper right-hand corner of most pages.
- Usernames and passwords will not change. And, users should continue to enter all financial information exactly as they appear on your financial statements

SYI Transition Reminder: Old SYI Being Retired on May 7th*** |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 23 April, 2007 | 17:43

| Nate Etter |
Hello again, this is Nate Etter from the Seller Experience team. As you may have read in my prior announcements, we've been transitioning sellers to the new Sell Your Item (SYI) form since August of last year. This process is now complete, and we’re going to retire the old version of SYI on May 7, 2007.
The vast majority of sellers are now using the new form. We've also received a ton of great feedback from the Community during the transition, and have made several changes to the form based on those comments. In fact, just recently - at the Community's request - we added the seller's current account balance at the end of the listing process so you can see at a glance where you stand.
On behalf of the entire SYI team, I want to say thanks to everyone who's sent in their feedback – it's been greatly appreciated.
Old SYI form going away - available until May 7, 2007
The old version of SYI will be retired on www.ebay.com and www.ebay.ca on May 7, 2007 (eBay Motors will continue to use the old version). I strongly encourage sellers still using the old form to click on the "Start selling with the new version of the Sell Your Item Form" link at the top of the Sell Hub.
If it's been a while since you used the new SYI form, we’ve done a lot of work to make the form more efficient for all of our sellers, and we think you’ll be pleased with the experience today.
Learn more at our Online Workshops
To help familiarize sellers with the new SYI, we're going to continue our series of workshops. The SYI product team is on hand during these events, and happy to answer your questions. The next one is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24th at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time.
On behalf of the entire SYI team, thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Nate Etter

***A Message from Rob Chesnut – Update on Safeguarding Member IDs*** |
 |
 |
 |
02 May, 2007 | 18:01

| Rob Chesnut |
In January, we introduced an important initiative called Safeguarding Member IDs (read my announcement from January 8, 2007). This initiative, also known as SMI, is designed to protect eBay's bidders from unwanted commercial and malicious spam, such as phishing, spoof, and fake Second Chance Offers. We've had a few months now to watch SMI in action, and we are pleased with the results so far. Since introducing SMI, we have seen a significant reduction in fake Second Chance Offers and other types of solicitations sent to bidders on higher-priced auction-style listings.
We've also received a lot of feedback from the Community about how we can improve the user interface, and we've been working hard to do so. Specifically, we want to replace some of the transparency that was removed when SMI was first introduced, without affecting the protection we're providing for bidders.
This week, we'll be making the following adjustments to SMI:
-
Enhancements to Search by Bidder. When members use the Search by Bidder feature (found under Advanced Search), they’ll now be able to see all the details of that bidder’s bidding activity on items below the $200 threshold.
-
Sellers can use Advanced Search to research potential buyers. Sellers will be able to use Advanced Search to conduct full research on their current bidders for a 48 hour period after the bid is placed. In addition, they will also be able to research the activity of any member who sends them an Ask Seller a Question email or uses Best Offer within a 48 hour period of the email/offer being sent.
-
Safeguarding Member IDs on listings with a Reserve or Buy It Now over $200. If a bidder bids on a listing where the Reserve price or Buy It Now is above $200, their ID will be anonymized just as if they had placed a bid over $200.
-
Anonymous bidder IDs for Best Offers. The IDs of buyers on the Best Offer history page will no longer be fully displayed to viewers – the last part of their ID will be hidden by asterisks. However, the seller of the item will be able to see the ID in full, as before.
|
To learn more about SMI, please read our FAQs, which have been updated to reflect these new changes. As always, I appreciate your support as we work to keep the marketplace safe.
Sincerely,
Rob Chesnut

***Coming Soon: Updated Version of Turbo Lister*** |
 |
 |
 |
02 May, 2007 | 18:01

| Gui Bastos |
Hi everyone, I'm Gui Bastos, and I work on eBay's Seller Tools. This week we're releasing some new features in Turbo Lister that we're very excited about. Our goal with this release is to make things easier and save time for our sellers - several of the key listing management functions previously found only in My eBay will be included within Turbo Lister, eliminating the need to jump back and forth between tools.
Here are the highlights of the new features:
-
View and Edit your Active and Scheduled Listings. You can now view and edit your live and scheduled listings right from Turbo Lister. Simply make your desired changes within the tool, click on "Synchronize" in the top navigation bar, and your listings will be updated on the site.
-
Relist or Sell Similar Items. This long-awaited feature is now here! You can Relist items or use the Sell Similar option in Turbo Lister by using the new buttons within the Listing Activity view.
-
More Time-Saving Options. We've added the ability to "Find & Replace" text within your listings. In addition, you'll be able to use Windows shortcuts to copy/paste information between views, and to export data from Turbo Lister to a spreadsheet program like Excel.
|
To learn more, and to download Turbo Lister, please see our information page.
We will also be hosting a workshop to cover these new features and answer your questions on Thursday, May 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to noon Pacific time. I hope you’ll stop by!
Sincerely,
Gui Bastos

***Upcoming Changes to the Feedback System*** |
 |
 |
 |
01 May, 2007 | 17:12

| Brian Burke |
Hi… this is Brian Burke again. In early March we introduced changes to the eBay Feedback system post in your market. During the past eight weeks we have evaluated the adoption rate, the impact on bidding and listing, and overall Community reaction.
Results have been positive. We’re seeing a high adoption rate of the new features, and there has been no negative impact to bidding and listing. I’m also pleased that, while some members in these communities were initially concerned about these changes, since the launch we’ve received an increasing number of positive comments, both from buyers and sellers.
Based on these results, today I’m pleased to announce that we will be launching these added features to the Feedback system on eBay.com and all other sites around the world during the week of April 30th 2007.
As we launch these changes globally, we’re making one change to the system, based on information garnered from the pilot markets. Currently we round the stars in the Detailed Seller Ratings to the nearest ½ star. After we launch globally, we will show stars to the nearest 1/10th star. We feel that displaying Detailed Seller Ratings to the nearest 1/10th star provides members with more detailed information.
I appreciate all the input and support we’ve received from our members, who I know are passionate about Feedback. These changes help ensure that eBay’s Feedback system continues to be a credible measure of trust in the ever growing and changing eBay marketplace.
Sincerely,
Brian Burke
Director, Global Feedback Policy
