***Attention Registered Canadian Charities - Important Change to eBay Canada Charity Fee Credit Policy *** |
 |
 |
 |
25 May, 2006 | 09:01

|
Erin Sufrin |
Hi, my name is Erin Sufrin and I work with charities at eBay Canada.
eBay Canada is pleased to offer support to charitable fundraising in Canada via the eBay Canada Charity Fee Credit Policy, which enable registered Canadian charities listing on www.ebay.ca for the purpose of fundraising, to receive a credit for Insertion, Gallery and Final Value Fees.
Please note as of June 1, 2006, registered Canadian charities must complete the following steps in order to receive a fee credit for their charity listings:
-
Ensure you have submitted the Charity Registration and Promotion Form prior to your auction. Only organizations who submit this form will be eligible for the eBay Canada Charity Fee Credit.
-
For efficient processing of your charity credits ensure you have the following information handy:
-
eBay user ID for your registered Canadian charity
-
item number(s)
-
At the end of your auction contact the eBay CA Billing support team by clicking here
-
On the following page, click the “Email Us” link under the Contact Customer Support section to be taken to a blank form. Please complete the form as requested.
Please allow 48 to 72 hours for processing of your fee credit. You will be notified via email once the credit is complete.
Over the past ten years, more than US$59 million has been raised for charitable organizations through listings on the eBay Marketplace – there’s never been a better time to put the power of eBay to work!
Additional Information:
-
Reserve fees and optional Feature fees are not included in the fee credit, with the exception of Gallery.
-
Qualified listings must comply with eBay Canada's Charity Fundraising Listing Policy.
-
Registered Canadian Charities refer to organizations that can provide their Canadian charity registration number and are in good standing with the Canada Revenue Agency. Groups involved in the promotion of terrorism, hate, racial intolerance, or illegal activities will be disallowed.
- A registered Canadian charity may appoint an auction management agent to list on their behalf as long as a registered Canadian charity has only one auction management agent selling on their behalf at any one time.
Please review the Charity Fundraising Information and FAQ pages for more information.
Regards,
Erin Sufrin

Bill Cobb |
Hi – I'm looking forward to seeing everyone who can make it to our fifth annual eBay Live! event June 13-15 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
For the first time in the history of eBay Live!, we expect to hit our registration capacity early. We're already going to have the largest attendance ever...and believe me, we're ready for the record crowd. But within the next week, we anticipate having to close registration for this year's event. We don't want any of our members disappointed, so if you’re planning to attend eBay Live! next month in Las Vegas, the time to register is now!
We’re looking forward to our best eBay Live! Last year's 10th anniversary celebration set a new standard for eBay Live! – and we're going to make this year’s event even better, with more learning opportunities, more networking and more fun than ever.
Hope to see you next month. Viva Las Vegas!

Baywinkle |
Hi, it’s Baywinkle again. Ryan Miller, Eric Staal, Ilya Bryzgalov, Chris Pronger. Who would have thought one of these guys would be in the running for the Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded to the Most Valuable Player in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? Then again, I’m sure not many people predicted Carolina, Buffalo, Anaheim and Edmonton as the four Semi-Finalists. I certainly didn't.
To those who have already entered the eBay Playoff Hockey Pool , this is a reminder that this is your last chance to make player changes to your roster. The 3rd Round trading deadline is Friday, May 19, at 7:59 p.m. ET, just a few hours before the start of the Semi-Finals. The last selections you submit prior to the Playoff Round 3 deadline will be effective until the conclusion of the pool. Be sure to visit www.ebay.ca/hockeypool/ to make your changes before the deadline.
For those of you who missed out on round 1 and 2 in eBay's first-ever Playoff Hockey Pool, it’s NOT TOO LATE to enter. Just go to www.ebay.ca/hockeypool/ and choose your team of 10 players and 2 team goalies before the Round 3 deadline – it’s FREE and you could be one of our lucky random winners of an iPod nano! No new entries will be accepted after the Playoff Round 3 deadline.
There’s no better way to enjoy this year’s run to the Stanley Cup! Visit the eBay Playoff Hockey Pool today.
Additional questions about the hockey pool? Post them here and we'll get you the answers!
Sincerely,
Baywinkle

***eBay Playoff Hockey Poolies - How to Read Your Hockey Pool Score *** |
 |
 |
 |
06 May, 2006 | 22:37

|
|
Baywinkle |
Hi, it’s Baywinkle again. I hope everyone is enjoying the first couple games of Round 2 of the playoffs. I wanted to provide all of our Hockey Pool participants with information on how to read your Hockey Pool scores.
The home page of the hockey pool shows your current roster (including all trades you've made since the last trading deadline), and all the points these players have earned since the beginning of the playoffs.
To see your current active roster (showing the players who are earning points for you within this round), go to the Standings page, then click on your User ID within the standings list.
The Standings page is defaulted to show Round 2 results to date. To see Overall results (Round 1 and Round 2 points combined), use the drop-down menu at the top of the Standings page and select Overall.
Additional questions about scoring? Post them here and we'll get you the answers!
Sincerely,
Baywinkle

***Updated: Update on Shipping Display Enhancement for Search and Listings Pages*** |
 |
 |
 |
05 May, 2006 | 18:35

As you may know, we recently introduced changes to our search results and listings pages allowing users to see the shipping costs for each listing (see original announcement below). Our intent was to provide buyers with an improved shopping experience by displaying item price and shipping costs on the same page.
Upon launching this feature, we noticed that it did not display “Item Location” for listings physically located outside of Canada, as originally intended. Therefore, members were unable to determine the location of the item without clicking into each listing, creating a less than ideal browsing and buying experience.
At eBay, we strive to deliver the best buying experience for our members. As such, we have decided to discontinue this feature at this time. You will now see the country location column in search results and listings pages. If you would prefer to view the shipping costs on these pages, you can do so by using the Customize Display link near the top of the search results and listing pages
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused and we will keep you advised of future developments of this feature.
Sincerely,
eBay Canada

***Previous update:
Now available - Shipping Display Enhancements for Search and Listings Pages*** |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 27 April, 2006 | 10:50

A couple of weeks ago, we announced that members would be able to see shipping costs for each listing automatically displayed on all search results and listings pages as outlined in the announcement below. This change is now available: you should now see shipping costs in search results and listings pages in lieu of the country column.
You can opt-out of this change by using the Customize Display link near the top of the search results and listings pages.

Shipping Display Enhancements for Search and Listings Pages*** |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 11 April, 2006 | 16:56

In the coming weeks, you will soon be able to see shipping costs for each listing automatically displayed on all search results and listings pages. This should save buyers’ time by helping them get a more accurate idea of the price of a listing before clicking into it. If you would prefer not to see the shipping costs on these pages, you can opt-out by using the Customize Display link near the top of the search results and listings pages.
Just as it works today, if you as a seller enter in a flat-rate shipping amount for your listing through an eBay listing tool, the amount will be displayed in this shipping column. Also if you offer more than one shipping option, the first one you listed will be displayed.
This feature also provides buyers with the flat-rate shipping costs that are most relevant to their country location. For example, American buyers shopping on ebay.ca will see flat-rate shipping costs to the U.S. if they specify shipping rates to the U.S. on the Sell Your Item form. Conversely, a buyer in Canada will see the flat-rate shipping charges to Canada for those items on eBay.ca that are listed by international sellers. Listings physically located in other countries will also be denoted by the country name in search results - for example, “From United Kingdom”.
To see a screenshot of the new item page layout, please click here.

***eBay Playoff Hockey Poolies take note - The NHL Playoffs resume tomorrow so don’t forget the 2nd Round trading deadline!*** |

|
|
Baywinkle |
Hi, I’m Baywinkle, the official eBay Canada mascot. As you probably know, there are now just 8 teams left in the Playoffs. No Flames or Habs but we Canadians still have the Senators and Oilers to cheer on when Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs begin tomorrow night.
This is just a reminder to those who have already entered the eBay Playoff Hockey Pool. You can make player changes to your roster for FREE at any time during the contest, so now’s the time to get rid of your players who were eliminated in Round 1. Your newly chosen players will begin earning points in Round 2. The 2nd Round trading deadline is Friday, May 5, at 5:59 p.m. ET, so be sure to visit http://www.ebay.ca/hockeypool/ before then to make your changes
For those of you who have not yet entered eBay's first-ever Playoff Hockey Pool, it’s FREE and it’s NOT TOO LATE. Just go to http://www.ebay.ca/hockeypool/ and choose your team of 10 players and 2 team goalies before the Round 2 deadline – you could be one of our lucky random winners of an iPod nano! Want a hint? Don’t take anybody from Detroit, Dallas, Calgary, Nashville, Philly, New York, Montreal, or Tampa Bay.
Official Round 1 winners will be announced on Friday, May 12. Check http://www.ebay.ca/hockeypool/ to see if you'll be taking home a Sony LCD TV, a Sony Digital Camera, or an iPod nano.
It’s never too late to catch NHL playoff fever! Visit the eBay eBay Playoff Hockey Pool today.
Sincerely,
Baywinkle
