***Feedback Filtering Trial Has Ended*** |
 |
 |
 |
30 November, 2005 | 20:07

On July 12th, we announced the trial of a new feature called Feedback Filtering. This feature allowed members to filter Feedback by type (positive, neutral, negative). You can find the original Announcement here.
Many members of the Community have long asked for a way to only see Feedback of a certain type, such as negative or neutral, and have long debated the addition of such a feature. Many members have said that the ability to filter by different feedback types will help them make better trading decisions. Conversely, other members feel that seeing all feedback together, without filtering by type, provides important overall context for the comments. These members believe that viewing only negative comments could unfairly obscure all of the positive comments received during the same time.
The trial was undertaken in order to evaluate this functionality by gathering input from the Community, and measuring the effect this has on the entire marketplace. Before and during the trial, we consulted with Community members in research groups and gathered feedback from the discussion boards.
As a result of this input and research, we are announcing that, effective today, this trial has been ended and Feedback Filtering will no longer be available on www.ebay.ca.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who has taken the time to contribute to this process.

Hi, this is John Bodine with Product Marketing. We know that sellers need information to run their businesses efficiently - for instance, the price an item is likely to go for on eBay, or what types of items buyers are searching for. Likewise, buyers want to know the price they can expect to pay for an item they're considering purchasing. We're happy to announce that you are now able to get this kind of information based on activity on eBay's sites with our newest service, eBay Marketplace Research.
eBay Marketplace Research, which launched last week, will help you understand overall listing, selling, and searching trends across the eBay site, and give you the information you need to become a more informed buyer or seller.
Some of the features of eBay Marketplace Research include:
- the ability to analyze key information like the average sale prices, average start prices, and average Buy It Now prices of items
- the ability to explore the top keyword searches on eBay by category and by related keywords
- charts to help you see buying and selling trends in the eBay marketplace
- access to completed items data going back up to 90 days

***eBay Canada Announces New Charity Fee Credit Policy for Registered Canadian Charities*** |
 |
 |
 |
07 November, 2005 | 11:39

eBay Canada has recently enhanced its charity platform to further support the generosity of the eBay community via the eBay Canada Charity Fee Credit Policy.
As of October 20, 2005 (12:01 AM ET), when a registered Canadian charity lists on www.ebay.ca for the purpose of fundraising, eBay Canada will credit the Insertion, Gallery and Final Value Fees back to the charity in the listing.
Over the past ten years, more than US$40 million has been raised for charitable organizations through listings on the eBay Marketplace. eBay Canada is pleased to be able to offer additional support to charitable fundraising in Canada.
Example:
A registered Canadian charity "Canada Gives" lists a jacket on www.ebay.ca
| "Canada Gives" lists jacket on www.ebay.ca |
| The jacket sells for |
$100.00 |
eBay fees (may vary)
(Listing, Gallery and Final Value Fee)
|
$4.12 |
| Net proceeds for "Canada Gives" |
$95.88 |
| eBay fee credit to "Canada Gives" |
$4.12 |
Additional Information:
- Reserve fees and optional Feature fees are not included in the fee credit, with the exception of Gallery.
- Qualified listings must comply with eBay Canada's Charity Fundraising Listing Policy.
- Registered Canadian Charities refer to organizations that can provide their Canadian charity registration number and are in good standing with the Canada Revenue Agency. Groups involved in the promotion of terrorism, hate, racial intolerance, or illegal activities will be disallowed.
- A registered Canadian charity may appoint an auction management agent to list on their behalf as long as a registered Canadian charity has only one auction management agent selling on their behalf at any one time.
Please review the Charity Fundraising Information and FAQ pages for more information.
