On Sunday 22nd February, some eBay.com.au buyers received an email from eBay with a subject line that read “10% off voucher inside to say thank you”, but with no voucher included in the email. The subject line of this email was incorrect.
This error was picked up quickly and a correction email was sent to everyone affected within hours. We also had a ‘sign in’ notice appear on site for everyone affected within hours.
We realise this creates a period where people may have bid on or committed to buy an item under the assumption they would be entitled to a 10% discount. We will be honouring the 10% discount for any of the affected members who won an item, or placed a winning bid, in this period.
We will be reaching out to those members who have been affected to provide details of how payments will be made. If you believe you are entitled to this discount and have not received an email from eBay by 11th March 2009, please contact eBay customer support.
