We hope you’ve seen the fancy new video banners on ebay.com.au - ‘excitement is coming’.
So what do you get if you combine an army of extras; a great big snow-covered mountain; a film crew and a shopping trolley? You’re a pretty clever bunch, so we know you’ve guessed that an eBay TV commercial is on its way.
And that’s really exciting!
We’d like to share with you some information about the biggest and most exciting advertising campaign eBay has ever undertaken in Australia.
Many of you said you’d like to see eBay invest more in advertising, particularly in traditional or mainstream media. You cried out for a TV commercial, a way to reach out to millions of people and share with them the excitement of the eBay experience. You’re one of over 5 million Aussie eBay members who know that spine-tingling feeling as an item you’re bidding on or selling reaches its final seconds of auction – that rush, that thrill, that exhilaration!
Well eBay has heard you and as a company, we’ve taken action and dedicated a lot of time, effort and hard work into creating advertisements that really showcase the excitement and the fun of shopping on eBay.
You can be among the first to view eBay’s TV commercial this Sunday night when it airs for the very first time. You’ll be able to catch it during the following programs:
| Where Are They Now? | (Sydney & Brisbane – Channel 7) |
| 20 to 1 | (Sydney & Brisbane – Channel 9) |
| Ugly Betty | (Sydney & Brisbane – Channel 7) |
| Big Brother Live Eviction | (Melbourne – Channel 10) |
| 60 Minutes | (Sydney – Channel 9) |
| CSI | (Sydney & Brisbane – Channel 9) |
| Grey’s Anatomy | (Melbourne – Channel 7) |
| Sunrise | (Sydney, Brisbane & Melbourne – Channel 7) – just in case you don’t catch it on Sunday. |
If you live outside these areas, you can still catch the ad on various pay TV channels.
As well as television, you’ll see eBay ads in weekly magazines like Who! and New Idea, on billboards as you drive down the street and be surprised by some unique and fun animations across the internet. You can also take a sneak peek at some of the ‘behind the scenes’ action – check out this clip on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuOysOqbY8Q.
Look out for the next edition of the Candy Jar email newsletter inviting you to put on your dancing shoes and join our eBay virtual conga line stretching across the shores of the internet.
Share the excitement – visit the eBay discussion boards where you’ll find a dedicated thread Excitement is coming and keep an eye out for fun updates on the eBay excitement page.
1,2,3,4….get excited!
