***Updated: Feedback System ***

07 May 2007 | 01:54PM EST

We wanted to let you know about an update to the new Feedback system, which we introduced in March on eBay.com.au.

We have changed the way Detailed Seller Ratings are displayed. Detailed Seller Ratings are the anonymous star ratings that buyers leave for sellers. The system displayed the Detailed Seller Ratings to the nearest ˝ star. Late last week, the system was updated to display Detailed Seller Ratings to the nearest 1/10 (one-tenth) star. We believe this update provides members with more specific information.

The results we’ve seen so far indicate that there is a good take up of the new Feedback features, and no negative impact on bidding and listing. While some members were initially concerned about the changes, we’ve received an increasing number of positive comments, from both buyers and sellers.

We appreciate the input and support we’ve received from our members. These changes help ensure that eBay’s Feedback system continues to be a credible measure of trust in the eBay marketplace.

Regards,
The eBay Team

***Original: Feedback 2.0***

05 March 2007 | 06:05PM EST

Beginning Tuesday 6th March, buyers in Australia, Belgium, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom will be able to rate sellers on the four Detailed Seller Ratings we announced in February (see original announcement).

You will notice three significant changes:

  1. Buyers can now rate sellers on Item description, Communication, Delivery time and Postage & packing charges after first leaving an overall positive, neutral or negative Feedback. Buyers can rate sellers on a 1 to 5 scale, with 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest. The average of all ratings is displayed on the Feedback Profile page.
  2. The Feedback Profile page has changed and now includes a summary of the Detailed Seller Ratings.
  3. The item title and item price for each Feedback will be visible on the Feedback Profile page below the Feedback comment for 90 days after the comment was left.

This additional information will enable buyers to make more informed decisions before purchasing; and rewards sellers by recognising what they do to ensure customer satisfaction.

These changes ensure that the Feedback system continues to be a credible measure of trust in the growing community marketplace.

For further information please read the Overview of Detailed Seller Ratings and frequently asked questions.

Sincerely,
The eBay Team
