Hi... I'm Alastair MacGibbon, Trust & Safety Director for eBay Australia and New Zealand.
The eBay team and I would like to inform you of an upcoming change that will directly affect some members of our community. Beginning the week of Monday October 23rd 2006, any members with private feedback profiles will no longer be allowed to list their items on eBay. This will be a global change and will affect all eBay sites.
Private feedback profiles allow members to hide feedback comments other members have left for them. Since buyers initially take on more risk when trading with a seller, we believe that buyers should have access to a sellers’ complete feedback record before trading with that seller.
Once members with private feedback profiles are prohibited from listing items, buyers will be able to make more informed decisions about a seller’s history. The option to make a feedback profile private will still be available, so members who do not plan on listing items for sale will continue to have the opportunity to hide their comments.
This new policy will apply to all listings that were created on or after the week of October 23rd, 2006. Listings that were created before October 23rd, 2006 will not be affected.
Your feedback profile is a valuable asset that helps you earn the trust of other eBay members. We strongly encourage you to keep your feedback profiles public so everyone can benefit from the comments other eBay members have left for you.
Sincerely,
Alastair MacGibbon
Trust & Safety Director, eBay Australia & New Zealand
