***Sellers' Items Displayed on Closed Item Pages***

11 September 2006 | 04:10PM EST

Starting this week we’re modifying the information we show buyers who come to eBay directly from an off-eBay site and land on a closed item page. When this happens, we will show similar active items from other sellers -- including their Gallery photos -- at the top of the page. Active items from the seller who listed the closed item will still be displayed directly underneath this section.

This change will help new buyers who come from outside eBay and are often confused about how to find active listings that match what they were originally looking for on other sites.

Sellers, please note: If you have cross-promotion connections set up with other sellers, those items will continue to be the only items displayed. Also, as before, you may opt out of this program. Doing so means your closed item pages will not display similar items from other sellers, nor will your active listings appear on other sellers’ closed items.

Regards,
The eBay Team

***eBay Motors launches a new Classifieds listing format***

07 September 2006 | 03:55PM EST

More Cars. More Choice.

eBay Motors Australia is proud to announce the introduction of a new classified listing format for cars and other vehicles. Members can now list their car as a classified advertisement lasting 28 days for an insertion fee of $19.99. We believe that our community will benefit enormously from a greater choice of makes and models as more car dealers begin listing their vehicles on eBay.

The launch of classifieds gives our community greater choice in the way they can buy cars. Classifieds will complement the existing Auction and Buy It Now formats. While many members are happy to complete the sale online, we understand that some of you prefer to negotiate the sale in person. With classifieds, sellers and buyers do not complete the transaction online through eBay. Instead, buyers use classifieds to contact sellers via email or telephone and can negotiate the sale in person if they prefer.*

So start looking for your perfect car. With so many choices you’re bound to find it on eBay.

For more information visit our page on Classified Ads.

Regards,
The eBay Motors Team

* Please be aware that since a classifieds transaction occurs off eBay it will not be covered by Vehicle Purchase Protection.

***Coming Soon: Catalogue Pre-Filled Information in Several Categories***

06 September 2006 | 10:09AM EST

Over the next week, we will be introducing Pre-Filled Item Information in a number of categories.

Pre-Filled Item Information is a feature that enables sellers to easily add product information such as brand, model, colour, and other technical specifications, to their listings using a Brand, Product Type, Model or Model number. Buyers find this additional product information very helpful as they shop on eBay.

If you list items through an eBay seller tool (e.g. Sell Your Item form, Turbo Lister, Selling Manager) or the eBay API, Pre-Filled Item Information will be available in the next week. If you utilise a 3rd party listing service (e.g., ChannelAdvisor, Marketworks, etc.), please contact them to verify that they will offer the Pre-Filled Item Information functionality in the categories listed below.

Below is the list of categories where we will be introducing Pre-Filled Item Information:

  • Plasma Screen TV’s
  • LCD Screen TV’s
  • Home Theatre Speakers
  • Video Cameras (Camcorders)
We will be adding the Pre-Fill feature to more categories as they become available, please stay tuned for future announcements.

Regards,
The eBay Team
