***Seller Registration Enhancements: Introducing Telephone Verification***

05 August 2005 | 11:41AM EST

In order to sell on eBay, members are asked to complete a verification process. This helps to provide a safe trading environment for the eBay Community.

To date there have been two verification methods; either using a credit or debit card, or having a confirmation code posted to your street address.

In response to Community feedback, we have now introduced an additional verification option via telephone. This is an automated call which is made to your telephone line giving you a confirmation code which you will need to input on eBay.com.au in order to start selling.

If you choose the ‘Telephone Verification’ option, you will be asked to review your telephone number and select a time to be called. You can be called immediately (within 20 seconds) or within 2 minutes, giving you enough time to disconnect your internet connection should that be required.

Please note: Only fixed line numbers can be used for this verification method, no mobile phone numbers will be allowed.

Creating a seller’s account is FREE and your information will be kept private in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Create a seller’s account today!

Have fun trading on eBay!

The eBay Team
